Yes a lot of people have migrated that way. The problem is you lost the few remaining emailers from here. The traffic there is much higher than here and lot less or no drama. I now watch both of them. Lots of good posts from very good GMCers.

I have checked out that other forum, but I find it cumbersome, confusing, and overly complex. I guess I'm just used to the good old GMC Net and haven't spent enough time figuring out how to use the newer forum yet.

I know the objective of the new forum was to simplify the information, but I feel that it has done the opposite and I think it's a shame that it has diluted the content found here.

I find the thread categories over on the other site a little too general and the subcategories occasionally inapplicable, so I rarely dig down if I'm looking for "old" solutions - OTOH I find the searchable archive over here invaluable and pretty easy to navigate. I read the new posts on both forums daily BTW.

I like the notification feature over there, handy if someone replies to you or a thread you've responded to for sure.

Like a lot of the "original" forum softwares, this one doesn't really handle images so well, especially today when even the most computer illiterate person can manage to upload a pic with ease. The days of ftp'ing to yer own web space and linking to that sort of ended with the age of phones and social media where users now expect to be able to post images immediately with no learning curve.
I participated in forums (like I'm sure a lot of us did) when there were only bulletin boards, black and white (or green!) screens, dial-up and no web interface. I won't say they were the good ol days, but even then, we got to discuss things - but there were less participants back then, just the geekier ones I guess. Laughing

I do searches on here mostly, far more information accumulated over the years, but I'll post questions on both forums. (usually the same people answer on both)
Are lots of people here still using the email .net way to post and read here? I just use the mybirdfeeder.net web-based mirror. Lots of stuff can get lost in email, maybe that's the problem here.

Also, replying from email and changing the title even slightly makes a new thread, things get lost and we end up with many threads on the same subject and it gets confusing to follow.

I like the new forum.
-You can get email notifications of posts

-You can press the "Latest Posts" to get the recent posts from all Forum Categories.

-If you have posted a question or answer, a red square on the Bell symbol on the upper right will show you the number of responses. Click on the Bell to open a list of the responses that will take you to those posts.

-Click on "Whats New" along the top of the page to get a list of all the recent posts and Resources in chronological order.
-From this page you can also sort the new stuff by postings, resources, photos etc

-It's relatively easy to add photos and videos to a posting... important for the younger users

-The resources section lets you add "How to" documents, photos and links to other sites

-The media section lets you post photos easily

The GMCNet Google Archive makes searching GMCNet very easy. Searching anything on FB is a nightmare! I haven't much experience searching on the new forum.
