Door seal rubber [message #369402]

Yes, after a heavy rain i find the entrance carpet damp and also the carpeted bottom half of the door. I believe this is due to the rubber gasket glued to the door itself being so tired that it no longer does the job.

Any generic suggestions for replacement?

Yes we still stock them.
Also small rain shield that mounts above the door is very good to have.

Start by cleaning and flushing the window drain slots. That plastic package strapping material makes a good clean out tool , then flush with water. If clogged it tops over on the inside onto the rug.

I just installed the door gasket 3 days ago. I used the gasket supplied by Jim and Nick at applied and 3M Black Super Weather Striping Adhesive. I taped off around the door jamb so that the adhesive made a clean edge. I cleaned the surface with alcohol applied the adhesive to both the door and the door gasket and let it tack off. Before it got tacky, I removed the tape so that I could get a clean edge on both sides of the adhesive. I started at the top of the door and lightly applied the gasket from top to bottom working both sides of the door. Once it was all positioned I applied pressure with a rolling wheel and closed the door completely.

The results are outstanding. I was very happy with the quality of Jim's gasket and 3M super Weather Stripping Adhesive. I absolutely would recommend the gasket from applied.

Yes indeed. I cleaned them out but I'll do it again with that material ..usually use my penknife, thanks!

If you don't already have one, you should also install the "small rain
shield that fits above the door" which Jim mentioned. Since most GMC doors
don't seal as tightly at the top as around the sides of the door, water can
leak past the seal. The rain shield deflects most of the roof runoff to
the sides rather than letting it flow onto the lightly compressed rubber
seal. If the door is really loose at the top, it's time to re-curve the
