Weather hit 70°, briefly, three days ago and I was eager to de-winterize the Birchaven. I was daydreaming and I heard the water starting to gush out of the sidewall water fill port. Sigh. Since then water's been dripping from the side of the coach at the bottom of the fiberglass under the water heater outside access door and from one of the body hold-down brackets underneath. It was doing that for a couple of days.

The water heater has the bypass setup and hasn't had water in it since before Covid, so initially didn't even think to check the tank. I cracked open the water heater petcock and water started dripping out. Hmmm. It's been dripping for over a day now and the orange shag carpet under the tank is wet. It appears that the tank is leaking _and_ the bypass valve(s) are leaking. I put in the Camco bypass kit when I first got the coach ~10 years ago, and the valves are brass quarter turn.

Has anyone run into a leaking bypass valve allowing water into the water heater tank?

Richard
