Hi Johnny,
I do my tranny pan gasket dry. Opinions may vary.

Johnny,

Duraprene is a solid rubber material and is well suited to transmission and such gaskets.

Were I installing one, I would glue to the pan. This is not like a cork/composite that you will have to scrape off all the pieces at replacement.

These do not usually have the compliance of a cork, but they can try to crawl out.

Based on replies, mostly Matt's, I installed it with some black gasket stuff lightly smeared on the pan side.
