I just cancelled my 68th trip to the Rose Parade due to lack of enthusiasm
as no one but the wife was going with me. Covid and expense played a part as
well. This would have been my 45th trip with a GMC. So we booked a few
nights camping at Francis State Beach near Half Moon Bay, Ca.

We used it a month ago or so with a rally with 40 other GMC's in Paso
Robles.

We are blessed here in Ca with mostly good weather. Our rally in Jan just
got cancelled as the State of Ca decided we could not use the mess hall to
meet.

I probably shouldn't even post this -- but I can't resist: Forecast for
this afternoon is 79*F. Tomorrow, 80*F. But back into the frigid 60's
next week. :-(

Here on the 45th parallel in Oregon, the high temp for today is predicted
to be 36° Farenheit. Presently no snow on the ground, but some light rain
and snow predicted for later today. No " T" shirt weather here. Unless you
count it as one of 4 layers that must be worn. It sucks! Little to no GMC
activity is planned for today. Happy New Year.to all. No matter where you
are.

It's much the same weather conditions here on the 44th parallel in Ontario.
GMC activity today is about to be me putting more air in the bags, she's looking a little low.
Happy New Year to all as well.

Speaking of appropriate names for inanimate objects like motor homes has
always led me to a dead end. Just couldn't get any enthusiasm for the job.
Don't know quite why that was, but a bolt out of the blue gave Judy and I
some inspiration for the task at hand. For an anniversary gift a couple of
years ago, my son's companion sent us an actual sign enamel on metal.
Identified our weed patch as the Double J ranch. We kind of liked the name,
so one thing led to another and the coach became the Double J Royale
Express. Spelled
DOUBLE
JJ
ROYALE
EXPRESS.
I Have a friend with a Vinyl Sign business and we incorporated the Royale
colors and type style into the name and I applied it to the coach,
utilizing the areas that the factory did for the model name. It just works
there and Jim and Judy are happy campers.

This is a difference that doesn't matter, but I often name things. As a waterman you always name a vessel, this maybe because you want to give credit to who just saved your ass, but it also eliminates some confusion.
We have often had multiple boats of similar type, but not identical so it is easy to single a specific by name.
This also worked when we had three VW rabbits..
Dues to family history, primary vessels have often had French names.
So, when the coach arrived, and being sailors, the name Chaumière seemed to fit. To pronounce it say "Show Me Air"

Happy New Year Everybody

My wife's first initial is "K" and mine "C". Kathy's last name begins with "R" and mine with a "V". Kathy's daughter came up with "Casey, the RV" for our motorhomes. Had it cut from vinyl and mounted across the back.

73 hi 63 low tomorrow. Next Thursday 23. I want a beaver logo so I can put Beaver Power on mine but I haven't
found the right one yet.

Johnny,

Assuming you mean the animal, do a search on the web. Some time back a friend wanted a beaver and I found him one pretty fast.

I've looked at the clip art sites, best I saw was 'OK' only. I'll keep looking

What kind of beaver logo are you looking for??
Something with a picture that looks a like like the animal?
Something that looks like a fantasy beaver face?
Something that looks like a berserker beaver attacking someone/thing?

I didn't look at clip art, I just searched for beaver logo and got a bunch, but that does not mean I saw what you have in mind..

I

We are blessed here in Ca with mostly good weather. Our rally in Jan just
got cancelled as the State of Ca decided we could not use the mess hall to
meet.

The Active GMC49ers.

If you are up for it, make a run over to Casa Grande, AZ this coming weekend and join the Saguaro Jetset at the Pinal County Fairgrounds for our Bluegrass Festival Rally the 6th through the 9th. There is always a good turnout for this rally and plenty of room.

BTW, temps in Casa Grande for our rally will be 70ish for the highs and 45ish for the lows.

We just had our lowest temp so far this year in Tucson this morning, at or near freezing. Getting progressively warmer the rest of the week with today's high of about 58.
