Happy Turkey Day to all GMCERS. Good Day for Family, Food, and Fun. We are
especially blessed this year, traveled from Salem to Petaluma, California
with a stopover in Ashland to visit with friends who moved recently from
fire damaged Calistoga. (Lost their Vinyard, house, outbuildings,
everything.) Thankfully, the loss was covered by insurance that paid enough
to relocate in Oregon. They had a considerable wine cellar with over 4000
bottles of premium Napa Valley wines from most of the winery's in the NAPA
VALLEY. That was all destroyed in the fires as well.
The Thankful part of this loss is that many of those vintners stepped
up and replaced many of those lost wines from their cellars. Thousands of
dollars worth of highest quality wines. What a special gift of kindness
this was.
What has that got to do with GMC's you might ask? Well, upon our
return to Salem, we are loading the coach and headed out for Anacortes,
Washington for the Cascaders Christmas Rally. Blessings to All.

Yes, I don't know how the WS Ferries and the runs between US/CANADA go
sideways at the same time. Those ferries used to be a huge attraction for
that whole region from Olympia to Vancouver & Victoria. We used to ride
them a lot. But their maintenance has been sadly non existent for the last
10 years or so. Now everybody is paying the price with cancelations and
interrupted service. Sign of the times. Infrastructure everywhere suffers
from it. Freeways, Bridges, Tunnels, you name it. But it would have been
great to see you guys from Canada. Our friends John and Deb had a recent
death in their family, so it's unsure if they will attend either. We have
missed our GMC family members from North of the border for far too long.
Darn Covid stuff anyway. Hope to see more of you guys in 2022.

It was the Covid and the border closure that stopped the Washington State ferry service Jim. It's scheduled to re-open in the spring. This month, the Port Angeles - Victoria ferry "Coho" started up again after almost a 2 year shutdown.

BTW sorry to hear about John and Deb. I know the recent floods in the Fraser valley and Sumas hit them pretty hard.

Well, I hope they used this down time to do some much needed maintenance
and spit and polish to their boats. They got filthy dirty and unreliable
for a time just before the pandemic.
