My ratrod toad is for sale, I finally found the pickup I've been looking for. 1988 Ford Ranger, Earl Schieb paint job, refrigerator white like every other one. Good tires, mag wheels. Sliding rear window. New windshield.
$4,000.00 you come get it. Pay fuel at 15 MPG and airfare home, I'll deliver it. Inside is rough, I have a large box with most of the interior trim pieces for it. I have a stock gas tank and straps, but it has to be plastic welded... the Man's Mall knocks a hole in them for safety. Would need sender ass'y with pump for carbureted engine and seal and lock ring. All available from the Man's Mall. At some point the synchronizers should be addressed. Trans works correctly, never skips, but when it's hot if you get in a hurry you'll outrun the synchronizer for second and get a gaunch. Pictures, both as I got it (Multicolored) and after paint... Wasn't Earl Schieb, it was Chuey, but samesame.) Standooff job. Which keeps it looking like its mates. Which was the whole idea, even the pipes turn down directly under the bumper so they don't show. So why would anybody pay such a ridiculous price for what was at best a lawnmower hauler? Because it will fly, and it's stealthy. Franklin Watson (who was on here, he may still be lurking, I dunno) built it while he was a mechanic for Delta. Swapped him my first 26' coach. Ran well, shifted well and needed the standard stuff years of sitting produced. Anyway he graced the little truck with:

A 302 CID V-8 out of some vintage Mustang. To which he applied:

Trick Flow heads
\Wieland Hi-Rise intake
Long headers - look like Hedmann, Franklin would know
Semi outrageous cam
HEI style distributor
Hi flow oil pump
Aluminum radiator
Dual electric fans with force-on switch and thermo switch
And other gentle massaging of the motor.

Which drives a T-5 with a fairly close ratio gearset
Ford 8.8 limited slip 3.7 or so
traction master clone traction bars

Exhausts are three inch into the Smitties and 2 1/2 with turndowns at the rear (step) bumper.

10 gallon aluminium safety cell in the bed, Carter pump below the bed.
It will go faster than I will sit in it, and gets there very quickly. Claimed 20 mpg 'if you drive it sensibly' but who would? I see 15 on the highway, 10 around town, less on Saturdays. No HVAC but included is a compressor bracket for the engine. It was originally an A/C truck, one could probably cobble the system fairly easily. It's great fun but no longer suits my needs, I tow the Kia Mousemobile instead. The truck towed flawlessly when last I towed it. Another 50 throws in the towbar and clips.
I finally found what I've been hunting - an F 150 with a 300 six and the shifter sticking out of the floor.
