I came across this old ad for a coach for sale. It has the "sunroofs" in the cockpit like the 1978 Royale that is currently on EBAY.
Go to this link and and see the interior pictures. http://www.gmcclassics.com/clintdavis/ There is a bit more of a hint where these sunroofs might have come from.

I agree John, those shades from Walmart are a great idea.
In the 70's I had a van for many long highway trips, added a sunroof. Really fun, great for views of the mtns and for venting air flow from the hot dark green roof. But wow, when the sun shown directly on your head it was HOT! and a great aggravation.

I guess that makes a lot of sense. I love the way it looks, and the added
light, but you're right... Its a greenhouse.
