Got our copy of monthly magazine, MOTORHOME. In it is a monthly article called
CLASSIC RIDES. This month's article is entitled: RETRO RELIABILITY, GMC's
CLASSIC RODES. Ada and I along with Ken and Janet Frey were interviewed for
the article. Good read and should draw attention to our coaches and GMCMI and others.

G'Day,

Here's a link to the article on the GMC Photo Site. Ada scanned and sent it to me.

I don't think I'll be extradited for violating copyright laws!

Meeting the author and her husband (who took the pictures) was fun. We spent
two days with them and they took about 129 photos, none of which made the article.
They are RVers, boaters and fly their own plane. Cool, fun couple.

I guess I'm in the story a little bit... I'm the "local club" Ann reached out to originally. She's from VA and wanted to attend one of our Crab rallies. When she mentioned she'd be in FL while we were rallying that month, I made sure she knew she'd be in the hotbed of GMC activity and got her hooked up with Jim Galbavy. Good that she also included Wes and Cinnabar. Maybe this will be a bit of an olive branch between the two "factions."

Great article. Been waiting for it forever. Thought she forgot about us.

The editor swore that they hadn't forgotten us.  Said that we were the oldest RV inthe series and would be the last story.  Sometimes we too wondered if it would ever show up. It was an honor to be asked to represent the cult.  ;-)

Jared,

This was a story that went thru all sides of the GMCMH community. No all stars here.
We handed it off where and when needed. ....and those that don't get the magazine get
to see the results. Great job all.

Olive branch? Factions? We're beginning to sound like dog clubs. Let's not.

Like it or not, there is a good bit of "us vs them" behavior exhibited in
the GMC community. I for one, don't fully understand why it still exists,
BUT I know it does.
It could be geographical in nature, but I don't spend a great deal
of time trying to figure it out. Doesn't matter much.
Could be a response to my "flippant, smart a$$ postings", could be
unknown by all of us who perpetuate it.
Someone once said, "If you are not part of the solution, then you are
part of the problem". That likely applies to me for sure. Don't know about
the rest of you.
Anyway, I am fairly sure that it doesn't help solve legitimate
problems that fellow coach owners might have and have asked for solutions
here on gmcnet. So I resolve to do less of it in 2018.

The comment wasn't referring to the article, which I liked and which furthers our agenda of keeping these toys going. It was aimed at Jim H's comment on the 'us vs them' which to a very small degree raises its head in the GMC community. However, compared to dog clubs (With which I have some small acquaintance) It is as nothing. A situation with which you're certainly familiar. In retrospect it isn't a great comparison in that it will only be understood by those of us who dabble in the dog world beyond our own pets. Understood or not, as noted elsewhere today, we're damn lucky to be pretty much reasonable people in our interactions here.

Johnny, thanks for clearing it up. As you noted, I know what a
cut throat group dog showing can be with some trying to climb over
"their" competition anyway they can. But hey, I got called out as
a "unarmed person" the other day when I was attempting to clarify
what it takes to schedule rallies. I've only been doing it for 5 or
6 years for different GMC clubs.

Helping with the article was a Hoot.

My point also, Johnny. But, I was admonishing myself to try and do a better
job of answering legitimate questions with less of the flippant comments
that I sometimes include. No reflection on anyone else, I am in no position
to be throwing any stones, here.

Are the dog "show-ers" similar to horse "show-ers?"

Definition: Horse Show

Horses showing their arses to horses' arses showing their horses.
