Good day,

as large parts of the US are under freezing temperatures I am sure lots
of you guys love to help me out exchanging my torn steering boot.

Anyone has a how-to? It is the upper boot that looks like a reversed
christmas tree.

First thing is to Mark it so when you take it appart you put it back in the
exact place, as it can go back 30 degree off and you will not re lize it.
Yes we have them in stock.

Ok. If you send me messages and don't here back within a week or so, the
work I did today on the steering probably wasn't good enough ;-)

But so far, things look good, steering wheel still looks the same as
before, and I don't feel any ill-effect. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Total procedure:
* mark stuff
* unscrew 6 top screws
* take out splint (use lots of swearwords)
* unscrew big nut
* pull of "CV" thingie
* put new boot in
* put "CV" thingie back on
* screw big nut in - make it tight
* put splint back in (another quiz in finding a dozen or so swearwords)
* put 5 screws easily in.
* put the 6th screw with the use of swearwords in
* mark topic done

Having command of several languages does help with the required colorful
vocabulary.

I am sure it would have helped a bit, especially with the removal of the
splint! Next time...

If you reinstall the front grille, use springs, instead of the screws. Makes the next time so much easier. Lots of front access without the grille in place. Helps on many other front end jobs.
