I bought a 73 a little over 2 years ago. Drove it home, and hadn't started it since. Well we're at another Winter. And the outside temp is a little above average today at 33 degrees. And I'd like to get started on restoring it in March. So it a great day to start it up in preparation of March. Went and picked up a carb kit. After installing the kit. Put the carb on. Filled the carb. Started instantly. ( Didn't have the engine fuel pump hooked up. ) Starting instantly is great for the cam. Bob Dunahugh. Iowa

Yes, things are often really the opposite of the common beliefs that have been perpetuated. Splash lube at cranking speeds is pretty non existent.

Well geez, they don't put dippers and oil troughs in engines any more.
Something about parasitic drag or some such blather.
