Had two
Kids bikes on my ladder. Eventially ladder broke loose from coach.

I do not reccommend it

The spare tire bike rack is what i use now. Works well.

The other issue with ladder rack is bikes in way if you ever need to get something out of pod.

The Camping World spare tire bike rack is designed for 4 1/2 square trailer bumpers. Not GMC bumper. If you are not towing, there are several bike racks that will mount in your hitch.
I added a hitch to my towd (Honda Fit) and can put the bike rack on the towd. JWID

Been carrying our bikes that way for 7-8 yrs now. Only problem is getting on roof with bikes on rack. But ya know if you really need to get up there, just take the bikes off. A bit of a hassle..yes. But not as bad as falling off trying to climb around it. Though I do it regularly. If you do get a ladder bike rack, do your research and get one with rubber straps the hold the bikes on the rack. Mine has nylon straps and really adds a lot of time to mounting the bikes, and is the biggest reason why I might avoid taking bikes off to climb on the roof. Problem with a trailer hitch bike rack on a towd is that the bikes can block the tail lights, potentially illegal and perhaps dangerous. That is the reason we went with he ladder rack. With the ladder bike rack, you must find a way to suspend the bikes so that when hanging on the rack, they do not bump against the MH body or spare tire cover. JWID.

This is what I use.

Use a dual hitch receiver adapter if you are going to tow and bike.

We trailer a boat and use a dual receiver setup. Works great. At one point I thought about fabricating a hitch receiver for the front but this setup doesn't interfere with the boat and I like the bikes in back better anyway.
