I've put headers on my GMC and am wondering if 1" fiberglass sleeving rated
at 1200*F is adequate for my plug wires and assorted cables like the
speedo..

Thanks

Mike in NS

The Taylor wires I put on there are not having a problem with heat from the headers, but they don't have a tendency to hang next to them when routed correctly. IIRC, they have the 135 degree boots on the plug ends. The P.O. put some of that sleeving on the speedo cable, though, and I guess that's why that still works forty years after manufacturing, because that is a hot spot that can't be avoided by re-routing. It appears to be the 1 inch size and was just loose on the cable when I got the coach. I think I tie-strapped it up a little ways to keep it more in the heated area instead of falling down to the tranny. If I had been the original installer I would have used a longer piece of insulation on the cable all the way to the cruise control.
