Type 2 a/c on 76 Birchaven.

Temperature switch in the front a/c box. Is the capillary tube supposed to touch the evaporator fins?

Wayne,

In other systems, that temperature control is supposed to prevent evaporator freeze-up. If that is the case here, it needs to be really close but touching should not matter.
Maybe someone else knows the GMC system better than I do.

It doesn't matter about the tube touching but the bulb at the end of the tube should never touch. There is usually a clip of some kind to keep the bulb away, but close, to the fins. It is supposed to measure the air temperature not the fin temperature.
