So, here's a question regarding what some of us have done, but maybe some of the newbies might not know.
When labeling wires, under hood, dash, wherever,
do you label both ends, or just one?
do you label each end where that wire comes from, or where it is going?
do you label each end with a number, presumably with the same number on each end, and then write down in a 'book' where the wire goes and comes from, its color and size?
Just wondering what everyone does...

I gotta tell this story. Some of you guys know Stick Miller and most know Ken Henderson. Well, if you've ever seen Ken's coach, every wire is neat and labeled with a Brother label maker. Stick lives in Americus near Ken and Ken 'helped' Stick quite a bit on his various coaches. One day they did something and Ken told Stick something to the effect "I've got to go in but before you go label those wires we put in today."
The next day when Stick came over he raised the hood to show Ken his wire labels. Ken looked in and sure enough the wires were neatly labled...Red wire...White wire...Black wire....

My wife Judy's first husbands father in law had a compulsion to label
everything he ever purchased, with the date of purchase, cost, and location
of purchase. That went for washers and dryers, mop buckets, everything.
When we helped clean out their house when they could no longer manage for
themselves, everything in the house was labeled with magic marker and
string tags. We chuckled about that for a long time. But, Col. Ken has a
good, valid, reason for his labels. He has a huge bunch of additional
stuff mounted in his coach, nobody could remember all that without labels.

That is classic Ken and classic Stick.
I once asked Ken if he had enough labels (there are dozens if not hundreds
on his coach), and his response was that they weren't all labeled, so
obviously not.
I suspect his strategy is that any time he has to identify a wire, he
labels it, no matter what end he's working on.
