Has anyone installed the Sanden AC compressor and bracket /hose kit from Applied for the *455*? I put mine in today, but it's not even close to how the Sanden people recommend the install. They were showing spacers all over, but on my install I only used one spacer. Also they showed the tension bracket on the other side of the compressor than that is shown on the Applied website. But this must be GMC specific.

Everything is hooked up, but I haven't ran the engine yet to make sure the belts don't spin off. And I'm not going to spin up the clutch until I get freon in it.
So I quess I'm looking for someone who has already installed the kit, to make sure I haven't screwed up the install. Spacers? Or tension bracket placement.

To me it looks to be a big improvement ovet the A6 unit that I had to replace 2 times over the last 3 years. And with this redesigned bracket, I can actually change out the valve cover gaskets without pulling off the AC bracket and compressor!

Thanks,
Scott.

Scott,
We need to mock up the unit as a change was made about a year ago and we
did not edit the instructions.
Just because our guys can install them easily does not mean much, so we
need to get on it now.
Scott, I'll issue some credit on your account.

Jim,
No need to issue me a credit. Nothing was damaged or lacking quality of the product.

If the install that made the most sense to me was correct, then it was a very easy install.
I need to fill it up with freon and test it.
If no one chimes in on instructions, and/or mine is successful I can chart out the install for you. Like I said, it was a easy install.

But thanks for the offer.
Scott.

It still need better instruction for sure.
Lot of time, when you get too familiar, then we assume.
Thanks for the feedback.

Just be VERY VERY careful of the bolts around the clutch.make sure they will not hit the AC hose or you will be doing it all over again.

remember the engine tourques over on load pushng the clutch closer to the hoses.

Been there have the tee shirt

I installed the kit after communicating with Nick about the bracket orientation.

Fits great and works!

I believe that Applied has modified the bracket so that it fits in our application.

I only used one spacer on the back side.

Keith,
I was able to get a cover for the clutch on Amazon for $15. Should take care of the bolt saw problem. Although I did secure the hoses so contact should not be a issue.

JJ,
Yes, only one spacer is needed from the parts kit.

When I get back home on Friday, I will take it to a AC shop to have freon put in!! So far it's a great kit.

Scott,

Most of us now refuse to use Freon. Duracool (HC12a) is much more
efficient, environment friendly, and cheaper. You can easily install it
yourself.

WE mocked up the mount and compressor and now we have pictures to send with
each kit to clear up the mounting issue.
