Looking at options for privacy and UV protection, I found smart glass
film. Chinese Amazon has it for 100-200USD/sqm which is about 1/6-1/7th
of the price you pay in Europe.

Anyone has experience with this kind of film in the GMC (or elsewhere)?

Smart tint is a ~8watt per square meter LCD film, when de-energized is `90% obscure, when energized, it is virtually clear.

Are there controllable shades of gray between 0 and 90?

I'm only seen the all-or-none variety in action, but this post implies that there is a dimmable version

Smart glass (film) changes transparency based on applied electricity.
Glass in Germany is around 1500EUR/sqm, whereas film is around
700-750EUR/sqm

Don't know about electric tinting but
You really should call Jim Bounds at the CO OP. He loves to share and has mucho experience with tinting windows.

"ready for tint. Both of these coaches are going with the lighter color but still hi heat rejection ceramic film. "

I tinted my coach with Limo tint. It sure helps coach temps.

You can still see out just fine and the black windows look great from the outside.

It's a big job, esp that rear window, but it's doable by anyone with any measure of care

I believe I'd rather have a film that was NORMALLY transparent and would dim with applied voltage. The way this stuff is described a failure would leave you blinded!

Watch how dark a tint film you use. There are probably 50 different rules for the 50 different States. Texas, at one time, was very tough. $50 dollar fine per piece of window glass tinted over the 'legal' limit. Police department in Brownsville bought test equipment and paid for it in one week. After that, it was all gravy.

Thomas,
That is one reason to go with smart tint so you can control the tint rather
than selecting a tint and living with it.

The only windows that matter are the cockpit windows and the windshield. The house windows can be painted over if you desire.
