Note to everybody else interested: Their reservation page of their website would not accept dates past December this year, so you will have to call.

Thanks, I forgot to mention that. Tony and I had ridden up there to scope it out, and I did the reservations in face mode.

5 of us from VA will be going down Terry and several more from further north. As the time gets closer I'm sure we can arrange a GMC convoy.

I would expect with this park's closeness to the 100% line, and it's reputation as a good park, it will be full. Easier to cancel than sit outside in the dark, without companions. You have been advised.

I spoke to the Rabun County Sheriff's Department. They're cool to the total plan. They didn't mind boozing as long as no one's driving. They didn't mind chanting for the sun to return. They didn't mind the idea of a bonfire. It was the 'Take Nekkid' part of 'Take Nekkid and dance around the fire' they were cool to. They said it scares the wildlife. We will be circumspect.

And Jeremy is one of the younger, buffer GMCers around.
The genesis of this long=-standing joke is the morning I was doing something in the studio at Y106 and Rhubarb (Morning #1 Banana) said 'Hey Johnny the Engineer, what's your religion?' and I said Orthodox Druid. It's been ongoing since.

I got an economy site for Friday through Tuesday just now at River Vista. Not sure if we can make it, but as has been mentioned, cancellation is an option up until 10 days before I think.

Also, found this site
http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/greenville
You can put in specific cities to see what the eclipse will be like at different locations. Not all cities came up but it is pretty cool. There are multiple partial eclipses referenced, scroll down to choose the Aug 21 eclipse.

Along with repayment for their site, I got a note that someone will be making some delicious stuff if they have enough crockpots. I propose to barbecue Almost Famous Chicken one night, hopefully somebody has a second covered grill I can scam, I can't get but three quartered chickens on mine and we'll need more.
I'm gonna suggest as the time draws closer, anyone who wants to do a main dish for the mob should post up what they're gonna cook. People can bring whatever potluck and sides they wish to add. There is of course no requirement to participate at all, but the times we've done it in the past it's been fun, good food, and usually one or two meals worth of leftovers. We can sort out who cooks what when.

Hold me a set. I'll give you the dollar at Lake Louisa next month.

And, Terry, I'd suggest checking out the relatives in Canton. It's about a hundred miles from Dillard, Rincon is just under 300.

Found an interesting place for a group meal at Dillard, Ga. Dillard House sounds interesting, served family style. A bit pricy, but...

Dillard House has to be one of the best places in the USA to eat. Served
"family style", the food is delicious. Even couples receive always-full
bowls of everything on the menu. No question, we'll all want to eat there
at least once, maybe more.
