OK so far tentative:

Phipps
Bridges
Price
Knezek
Zhookoff
Massey(?)

I'm gonna run up there Monday or Tuesday and see what I can coerce them into. I'll go ahead and reserve mine and ask them to hold space on the second row for five or six as long as they will. And to try to keep it open for others who may come along. I'll post the reservation procedure soon as I have it.

Joe and Ken gets us to a tentative 8. We ought to be able to chant it back if we try.

Told my wife about this trip for next year. She looked at me like I lost my head. To be fair, we have 2 massive trips this fall, so next August seems a long way away, but... it's not like you get a total solar eclipse every year! This is going to be a big deal if the weather holds. Next total solar eclipse across the south is 2024 in the Texas/Arkansas area, then something like 2045. Last one was 1918 for crying out loud!

O.K. girls and boys, it has become what we call time to fish or cut bait. Tony Bennett and I ran up to Dillard this afternoon and had a look. Nice place. I own the following five sites at River Vista RV Resort in Dillard, GA for the dates 18, 19, 20,and 21 August 2017:
568, 584, 592, 600, 608.
If you want one of the four I'm not parked in, you owe me $124.92. That's because I got them at the military discount, and since I got them I got the discount on all five. Hence you owe me, I paid them. If I got it right, the sequence of interest was:
1. Bob & Sandra Price
2. George Zhookoff
3. Billy Massey
4. Jeremy Knezek
5. Ken Burton
6. JD Lisenby
7. Ken Henderson
8. Joe Weiss

Of these, George and Ken are military, and can get the discount. I want four paid up though, cos they got my money. Out of the 8, Sandra, Billy, Jeremy, Ken, JD, Joe, wanna join and pay? Because George and Ken cal call them and get spots on the same row and get the same discount I got for being military. Alls I had to do was show my retired ID. If four of you guys don't want to play, it goes to George and then Ken. Let me point out, once you take your slot and pay me, it's yours. They don't give refunds (they will give a voucher for later but that's more trouble than it's worth). However, you can certainly sell your place to anyone you wish. I'd need to know and know what they're driving. According to the lady I bought from, "There's something planned for the eclipse, I don't know what" but the price is fixed for these five. Highlands NC is 12 miles. Dillard is 2 miles. Other touristy places and mountain views are equally close.

Lemme hear from you at your earliest convenience.

Johnny. I am in but really only want three nights. We'd never make it Friday. Only want the kids out for 2 days of school. Is the discount worth the extra day or should I call on my own. Thanks for the legwork!

Daily rack rate is 39.99 plus tax. She charged me economy rate and then discounted. No idea what they would charge you. You're talking a four hour drive, plus an hour time difference would likely put you in just about dark. Good roads, any chance you can get the kids lunchtime without penalty?. If you had to pay rack rate the discount is cheaper. If you got economy, three days is cheaper. You to choose.

One to bdub, three left. Maybe Jeremy, Prices, Ken, Lizenby, J Weiss. Give them a week, then Zhokoof and Henderson, then whomever wants. Keep watching this space. Jeremy's is probably open, he may reserve three days seperately.

Johnny thanks again for the legwork. I did go with just the 3 nights. Fighting Friday afternoon traffic in and around Atlanta would have made that drive a nightmare. So we will come up Saturday morning, stay in site 587 across the street from the ones you have reserved, and have a grand time. Thinking I'll bring stuff for my kids to make eclipse glasses Sunday.

She did say the park is filling up fast. So if Johnny runs out of spots, people may be out of luck unless they act fast. Didn't cost much to reserve the spot, so if I lose the $29 deposit it isn't the end of the world. We did end up in an Economy Back-In site, as opposed to the Standard Back-In sites Johnny reserved, so I'll have to borrow some of your luxury!

Thanks,

Thanks. I have me, Prices, Zhookoff, and Massey. One left of the five, available in order to Ken Burton, or Lisenby, or Weiss. Ken Burton, are you taking it? Tom Phipps and Kenm Henderson, both retired military, and Jeremy Knezek, limited to three days, made their own reservations. Eight so far.
Yall remember, if you can't make it, you can sell it to someone. I got the following from the venue two days ago:

GPS: 960 Hwy 246

Site # 568 RVD, 584 RVD, 592 RVD, 600 RVD, 608 RVD

Total Amount: $624.60
Deposit Amount Received: $624.60
Amount Due upon arrival: $0.00

Additional Deposit Due: $0.00 on

So we're good to go. The nice lady at the front desk doesn't hear too well but I'm not picky - she gave military discount on all five spaces. All are welcome to join us, five was just all the money I could tie up at the time. The more the merrier. Note that they also have four or five cabins to rent.

Rock on,
