Billy, Get a Wix or Napa inline filter. Cut the fuel hose between the frame and the intake side of the fuel pump. Insert the filter and go on your way. It is easy to get to there to install or replace on the road. If you are fighting a rusty tank that filter will trap a whole lot more than the one on the input side of carb. I moved a coach one time from California on east and had to replace both the inline and the carb several times enroute. The inline filter does not trap everything but it got most of the stuff and lasts a whole lot longer than using just the carb filter. I was able to find the filter in stock at every auto parts store that I stopped at on the trip.

I do not have the part number handy but Jim K. has it. I left Jim K. a voice mail and hopefully he will call me back with the number Wednesday morning.

It's a NAPA that I put in to replace the old one. Got a Mr Gasket at
OReilies. Will stop at thenext NAPA I find and stockup.
I'd loosened up the fuel hose (stainless covered) and couldn't get fuel at
that point.

Thanks
Billy

Well Jim returned my call in less than 10 minutes at 11:30PM CDT. No bad service for late as night?

The part number you want is Wix 33161. Also get two hose clamps for 3/8" hose. Jim also says to install the filter as close as practical to the fuel pump. If you do not want to cut the existing hose then get an extra piece of 3/8" hose. Some where around 12" to 18" inches. Look at it first and you will see the length needed. You do not need the high pressure FI gas line as there is no pressure there.

It is a 10 minute and one screw driver installation.

Billy,
Put it before the pump.
The final filter will hold up longer, but eventually it will be plugged up
with the finer particulates that pass through the big one.
This big filter needs to be WIX as the other brands cheats on the filter
media.
I know all about that from our filter side of our business.

The one thing neither Jim or I mentioned is that NAPA sells Wix filters under their brand name. The NAPA number is the same as the Wix number minus the first digit, but give them the Wix number and let the counter guy do the translation.

That you could! I wish I'd known at the time. It didn't start until down
around where I got on I-70 east of Denver.

It's no biggie. There was already a suction side filter inline. All I did
was replace it with the Napa one. Will get more practice today I reckon.

Thanks guys

The storm is forecast to unload well over 6 inches of snow across a sprawling swath extending from Denver to Green Bay. In the storm's warm sector in the southern and central Plains, severe thunderstorms may erupt this afternoon and evening.

Had a nice peaceful nights sleep in a semi remote farm store parking lot just west of KC last night. Took my time about leaving,
got a few supplies, didn't get started till 11am. Made it to Effingham, IL at a nice little park with nice hot showers and a
Laundromat. Will stop in to visit with Blain Merrell tomorrow. A GMCer will bring some crates of front end parts for me to deliver
in eastern PA while there. I hope Bob Burkitt will drop by for a visit.

Had a terrific time at Blaine and Diane Merrell's place. His place is GMC paradise! Florida room indeed! Just a fantastic
facility.
I had to replace a leaking selector valve and set the timing. Took lots of time to find a valve, but we gotter done.
Blaine and Diane are salt of the earth folks. No better GMCers in the world. I love 'em! Much thanks to Eric as well. What a
guy!
Bob Burkitt met me in Springfield, OH this evening and treated me to a great Ohio Mexican dinner. Surprisingly tasty! He's one of
my heros that I finally got to meet face to face. A most satisfying last couple of days.
Met Dennis Hill also. He brought down several cases of parts enroute to Norway via the GMCers Express. I'll deliver these to Steve
Adams in PA in a couple a days, who'll then deliver to the freight forwarder in NJ.
Spending the night near Columbus, OH.

Billy, enroute to Andover, MA.

Billy,
Darn, I didn't catch this last night. You could have had breakfast with us
this morning. We're just north of Exit 129 on
I-70. I guess we'll have to catch you on your next delivery run.
