What would the rear unit hit if you had not reversed it?

Correct,
It hit the running lights, and would overhang the rear of the coach and not be supported by the roof if left facing frontward.

Well winter got the best of us for a while.
It's just no fun to work on the GMC when it's 10 degrees and snowing outside. We tried and failed many times.
But thank god now it's spring time!

Since the temp has come up we have made some real progress.
Wiring is done, it took ~100-150 ft of 12ga 120 wire and ~500+ ft of 14 ga 12V wire.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h298/jbrady2/GMC/IMG_20160306_115510695_zpsfylhxwvl.jpg
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h298/jbrady2/GMC/IMG_20160308_161520_zpsyzqghawu.jpg

Since these photos I have run 100 or so feet of wire loom in prep for insulation

Also got the majority or the water pipe run
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h298/jbrady2/GMC/IMG_20160311_174446967_zpsanrpsdkw.jpg

Next us is the insulation.
I want spray foam like original, but I want it done well (unlike original).
I called every contractor anywhere near here and they either flat out won't do it, or they want 1500+ to do it.
So I suppose (like everything else) I'll have to do it myself.
Ordered a 600BF kit of Touch n' Seal and we will see how it goes.
It has an R value of 7.12/inch so at 1.5" thick I should be ~R10. Most importantly, I can fill all the voids left by the factory nimrods, which should make the AC's and heater more effective, as well as reduce road and outside noise.

I also plan to put a 2" layer on the generator compartment, that along with the ev6010 and the dynamat lined gen compartment should make for a quiet genset.

I also decided to go with some Solar. Ordered a Morningstar Duo 25A solar controller ($110), it will maintain the house batteries and the starting battery separately so I shouldn't have to worry about either. I am going to go with 2 100Watt flexible solar panels mounted directly to the roof (this will be last).

I'm also thinking about getting the FITech EFI system, but that will have to wait until the renovation is done I think, doesn't do me much good at the moment since I can't drive her!

Let us know if that 600BF is enough to do the whole thing (walls and ceiling). At 1.5" thick it will only cover 400 square feet. The ceiling itself is a little less than 200 SF. 600 BF Might or might not be enough to do it all. That's one reason I suggest to people that they leave the OEM stuff in place (maybe shave it back to 1/2") and just add whatever it takes to fill out to 1.5"

I'll let you know, I calculated I need around 400 sqft at 1.5", but that was before I pulled the front cap, so now that's getting done too. The dual AC's and Fans take a bit of real estate off the ceiling that I won't have to spray. I also want to spray the generator compartment, wheel wells, and propane compartment, we will just have to see. I have someone coming out to quote the job tomorrow so maybe I can still ahve it professionally done, but it's doubtful.

I agree, If I were to do it again I would leave all the old stuff in place except where I needed to remove it for wiring and plumbing.
I was just concerned about adhesion to the old stuff, but it was probably an ill founded concern. You live and learn.

Save those for last. You might decide you can use rigid foam insulation sheeting on them.

That is the plan. If the spray holds out they will get a nice coating, otherwise I have some 2" rigid foam for the purpose.

Justin, it looks like Chariot Gauge might have gone belly-up. No recent activity on the web and the controller has been perpetually listed as out-of-stock. You heard anything from them? Or found an alternative?

I haven't heard from him. I've tried to contact a few times, was a promising start but looks like the gave up on it.
I'll still be using the one I have, but no idea if he will ever go further with it.
Once my coach is "done" I'll be playing with the code to make it my own, so maybe I'll be able to move forward with it, but no guarantees at the moment!

I was checking out Chariot Gauge too and saw the same thing. Ended up going with a megasquirt. More expensive but does a lot more. Still assembling the unit, will write up for the group as I get it installed. I'm pretty excited about what it can do.

Based on Wally's advice, I bought an MS2 v3.0. Good link on similar installation is here:
https://www.diyautotune.com/support/tech/install/chevrolet-gm/carb-to-efi/

Don't want to thread-jack, I'm planning on good write up for the group once I have it done and installed, hopefully within next month or so.

Quick question, does anyone know of a replacement for the gas tank vent float valve (the one in the driver side rear wheel well)
Either a replacement or even better a way to do away with it?

Gene,
Are you saying I should ask them why not to remove it or I should actually remove it?
It's just the liquid separator for the charcoal canister correct? I have thought of removing the whole system, since here in TN we don't require it, or require inspections.

A little more progress made lately.
I got the black tank repaired and installed a few days ago.
Got the last of the 12V wiring done in the battery compartment.
Went with a lot of marine stuff intended for boats.
Got a Morningstar 25A solar controller, a Blue Sea ACR (combiner), a battery cutoff switch and a distribution block to clean up the wiring.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h298/jbrady2/GMC/IMG_20160323_180019520_zpstvtsoskd.jpg
From the distribution block the 4 wires run to: Generator, inverter, converter/DC panel, and input from solar.

We are going to start with 215ah of battery (2 6v duracell gc2's) and see where that takes us. I have room for 2 more in the propane/battery compartment and could also fit 2 more int eh generator compartment if needed.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h298/jbrady2/GMC/IMG_20160329_133230820_zpst9i0s9mj.jpg

Once the batteries were in I had to weld an extension to the exhaust for the EV6010
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h298/jbrady2/GMC/IMG_20160322_171916397_zps8depooll.jpg

Got it installed and she cranked right up after I lowered the rear of the coach (pretty low on fuel at the moment). It's pretty loud inside the coach, but there's no insulation or anything yet so I'm hopeful that it will tone down once it's all finished up. I'l definitely be adding insulation to the gen compartment to try and tone it down a bit. I still need to extend the exhaust out from below the coach past the rear bumper.

Next up is insulation. So as soon as I get a free day I'll be experimenting with this spray foam stuff and will report back with how it works.
