Hello,
I am looking for a good used or unused set of 2x 2" "hub centered" spacers as sold by Applied GMC or similar. Any extras you may be willing to part with? Changed from 16.5" to 16" steel wheels. Need to compensate for the usual caliper clearance issue.
Many Thanks,

Appreciate it Tom, I did see this link before. While I like the price, unfortunately these are nut hub-centered. I'd rather play it safe w/o relying on the lug nuts to keep the wheels centered.
Appreciate it Jon, I read from previous threads on this & other forums that the steel wheels I was considering work in most cases. Appears that wheels w/ same model # may be of somewhat different shape depending on which factory made them. In my case grinding the calipers would remove too much for safety. I did consider the J Hupy solution as I don't need the full 2" for caliper clearance. Tried to reach him w/o success. Also figured that changing the studs in the existing hubs will add quite a bit of expense and carry some risk.
So the bolt on 2" spacers seem to be the best way to go. Price is steep so I was hoping to find used ones.
Thanks again,
Franz

Plenty of GMCs running on non-hub centered 16" Eagles without reported problems. Why would a non-centered solution cause any different expectations of success? Other than owner desires?

I did check on the non-hub centered Eagle option. More folks seem to prefer the hub centered Alcoa's or even the Eagles w/ the hub centering inserts. Most folks I talked to cite high coach weight & shock loads. So far I have not found anyone actually using non-hub centered spacers. With 2" spacers my personal opinion is that only the (more expensive) hub centered version provides true centering without relying on conical lug nuts centering the spacer/wheel. Especially since it is necessary to center twice, 1. spacer to hub & 2. wheel to spacer.
Anyone out there actually using non-hub centered 2" spacers? Feel free to share your experience.
A great week to all!

Another thought along the use of spacers. Would the spacers add enough clearance for the modern cone shaped GMC/Chevy truck 16" rims to fit over the front hubs? Not that I'm going to chase this option, but an interesting thought. Especially at 2 a.m.

They might, especially if one is not concerned about hub centerings. My 16" steel wheels are bell shaped and have the same bore as the original 16.5" wheels.

I run lug-centric Dodge wheels on the front and have no problems with loosening.

Having the opportunity to check physically the dome shaped 16" OEM Steel Wheel, with and without a 2" spacer and 80MM new calipers installed on my coach.
The OEM 16" Steel Wheel will not clear the 80mm calipers without some grinding being done on the ears. Other minor grinding may be needed, as noted elsewhere. They will fit fine on the OEM 70mm calipers.
The OEM 16" dome shaped Wheel with added 2" Spacers to the hub, as sold by JmK and others, will allow the 80mm calipers to clear the wheel without any modification to the 80mm caliper.
The OEM 16" cone shaped wheel will clear the 70mm or 80mm calipers if you use spacers.
This is based on using Accu-ride Wheel #27756 (Dome shaped) and unknown manufacturer Cone shaped rim, bar coded AV/TBR.
Your mileage may vary.
