During my last twelve months of GMC searching, I had the opportunity to check out several machines in the area. I would like to share these with others to see if they can find a good home. The first grouping are those that are driveable or close, the second are "projects" some in the loosest sense of the word. I've contacted all the owners to let them know they may be contacted by interested parties. All have 16.5" wheels and old tires - that was consistent across the board in every coach I've seen for sale.

Here you go!

1) TZE167V100472 - 1977 Kingsley owned by Pat Brotherton in Ft. Madison, IA. His cell is 319.470.8085. Good original condition, claims rebuilt engine and trans by previous owner (Robert Kerr of Waterloo). He has owned for about 6 years. Has a bed in back but Pat has kept the rear benches in his shop. He was initially asking $15k but willing to negotiate. I did not hear it run and felt he was not realistic in his price. I saw this coach a year ago, Pat called me just a couple of weeks ago and realizes the $15k is high.

2) TZE167V100209 - 1977 Kingsley owned by Janice Courtney and her late-husband of Ottumwa, IA. Her Cell is 641.777.9262. She purchased nine years ago from her sister and brother-in-law - Dave and Betty Rodgers of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pretty much totally original. 68k miles. Newer power converter and zip-dee awning. Has leak somewhere in air suspension - leaks down quickly when engine shut off. Been tuned up by her mechanic. Janice is asking $5500 or best offer. This coach was my second choice, appears well maintained. Runs and drives.

3) TZE063V102399 - 1973 Canyon Lands owned by Jack Maylone of West Liberty, IA. His cell is 319.321.8385. Has a Cadillac 500 from 1976 Eldo installed by prior owner. He has owned since 2009. Original condition, pretty rough shape inside and out. Been outside and off the road pretty much since he bought it. The tires on this one are completely shot, I wouldn't want to try and drive it anywhere. When I first saw the coach, there was evidence of lots of mice and other varmints making use of the space. Jack had cleaned it out the last time I went to look. Jack first asked $5000 but called me about 10 minutes after I left and told me his wife said that number is not carved in stone. This would need lots of work to get on the road, but was interesting enough with the engine swap to consider. I tried to uncover some history on the engine but was unsuccessful.

4) TZE336V102185 - 1976 Birchaven owned by Jim (?) of Centerville, IA. His cell is 641.895.9637. Owned for around 25 years. Rear bath. Interior has been updated, but still about 20 years old so now dated. Very solid coach, could get on the road pretty easily. Jim asking $7000 but open to offers. His daughter showed me the coach, she really wants it out of her machine shed and could help push through an offer. This is the only 23' I found and realized it was too small for our family. However, if I was looking for a 23, this would be the one I would get. Has headers, not sure of other modifications. I did hear the engine run but it was packed in the machine shed too tight to take out.

5) TZE167V100187 (I think - pic is fuzzy) - 1977 Eleganza owned by Joel Ertl of Dyersville, IA. Nice original condition, stored inside. He has owned for a long time. Rebuilt engine. His cell is 563.590.0916. Joel never gave me a price, which concerns me. His daughter showed me the coach but batteries were not charged and we couldn't start it up. Sounds like they move it every now and then but only short moves. Ertl toys - that's him, which is a cool bit of history.

6) TZE165V101028 - 1965 Glenbrooke owned by Jerry Walsh of Bellevue, IA. His cell is 563.495.2649. He has owned 4-5 years. Stored inside. Interior and body or in rough condition but engine does run. Jerry first mentioned $6500 but I think would take about anything.

Projects (non-running):
1) TZE166V100076 - 1976 Glenbrooke owned by Marvin Johnston in East Moline, IL. His cell is 309.792.0611. Interior pulled and reupholstered, has not been reinstalled. Rough condition inside and out, been sitting outside for awhile. Lots of documentation. 102k miles. Marvin is asking $5000 or best offer. Interior was nicely done in neutral colors - cream with green piping.

2) TZE368V100860 - 1978 Royale Rear Bath owned by Rocky Hiemstra (actually his father) of Cedar Rapids, IA. Rocky's cell is 319.533.7633. Engine was rebuilt, then left outside for many years. Interior is a disaster (total pest infestation and water damage), exterior appears in good shape. Bob Dunahugh talked more seriously with Rocky on this one, but I think the last figure was around $7k or so. I had told Rocky that I was worried that if I offered to tow it off his farm he'd take me up on it.

3) TZE167V100523 - 1977 Eleganza owned by John Oxley of Iowa City, IA. John's cell is 319.541.8303. Was owned by father-in-law before his death. Original condition, been left outside for several years and sinking into ground. Original condition. John thought it had a Cad 500 on it, but it is the standard 455. They are open to all offers. Tough to get into as he parked the passenger side of the coach so close to the nearest shed that you can only enter through the rear bedroom window. I got in and walked thru but it was a tight squeeze. Lots of mouse droppings. The father-in-law had started an interior redo, all I saw was the headliner replaced with carpeting that had begun to fall down.

4) TZE166V102836 - 1976 Glenbrooke owned by James Franks of Sherrard, IL. James's cell is 309.574.0331. Lots of documentation from previous owner. Left outside for many years. Claims 455 rebuild by prior owner. Original condition inside and out. James was asking $3000 or best offer.

5) TZE365V100536 - 1975 Kingsley (although VIN indicates it should be from a coach builder). Owned by Ed (?) of Rock Falls, IL. His cell is 815.716.0475. Interior was custom done so the Kingsley moniker could be misleading. Interior is straight from 70's disco and disturbing, not sure how else to describe. Ed stated he wanted $12,500 or he would just make repairs and put back on the road and use it himself.

6) TZE167V101900 - 1977 Coke custom (not Gadabout) represented by Reggie (?) of Cedar Rapids. Reggie's father-in-law (Darrell) has owned the coach since early 80's or late 70's. Reggie's cell is 319.360.5700. Interior has been redone twice, no longer shows any resemblance to the Coke model used by distributors or bottlers. Been left outside for many years, has at least one LARGE critter living inside it. When I later talked pricing with Reggie, he mentioned it would be better to work out a deal while the owner was out of town as he could sell it for less. This one is just too bad because a lot of work had gone into it but the elements and animals have totally wrecked it.
