Greetings,

Im in need of one front wheel bearing cap or seal for one of my front hubs. This is the small metal cap which covers the outer CV castle nut and cotter pin.

The Z-78 parts book page 19-4 part number 1. Part 700226 (Cap Bearing seal)

Anyone have a spare they can part with please let me know.

Thank you.

If you mean the "dust cap" (around 2.5 inches diameter metal cap) it's a standard auto parts store item.
E.g. Dorman 618504, Napa 735-1404, Autozone 13974.
Our local Napa had them out on the hanging rack displays.

Thank you Karen

I will pick one up and see if it works, and report back.

I had asked several GMCers who have been around a while and nobody had any alternate part numbers or spares for that matter. I was under the impression also that the front caps and rears are a different size but I have not tried to swap them. Note the rears actually have two caps. A small inner one and the larger outer one.

It made a bit of difference for those who are interested, but my front hubs were reworked by Mr. Lenzi and have a nice thick coat of paint on them. My one existing bearing seal was just a bit tighter to get back in and I had to make some bends and adjustments to get it to fit and seat properly.

Just a note that the dorman 13947 (Autozone) 2.5 inch ID does not fit the FRONT hub. My front hub is a hair under 3.5 inches in diameter.

That 2.5 may work for the inner cap on the REAR, but not the front.

The hunt is still on for an outer FRONT hub dust cap.

Thanks
