Keeps a 23' spot of the driveway out of the rain and sun, and makes sure I am not burdened by any of that pesky money I might accidentally accumulate.
But one day...

We have numerous cottages.
We have a cottage in most provinces and many states.
Our cottage has all the amenities ..3 piece bath, full kitchen, a living
area, a great sleeping area and 6 wheels!
What more could a person ask for?

Great to hear how others use their GMC. I got mine in August and have not been able to use it yet. So far mostly driven to run errands on Saturday mornings She is road worthy now and I can't wait to get her out on the first trip. Just dreaming for now. Keep the uses and trip reports coming.

I guess you would call our use a little more than casual. Kathy and I are still employed full time, but enjoy considerable flexibility with our work schedules. This has allowed us to use the GMC regularly. We take a one week trip in January (for my birthday) and a one week trip in July (for her birthday), along with 5 - 7 three day weekend trips (mostly to GMCSJ rallies) per year.
Since buying our coach in July of '08, we have managed to put on over 20,000 miles. Since flying has become such a hassle, we have also taken to making one of our two yearly 10 day vacations a motorhome trip. These trips are usually limited to one or two states away from home, due to time constraints. We have made it to two each GMCMI and GMCWS rallies so far as well.
I originally wanted to purchase a motor home for my annual Sand dune trip with my two sons, and I do that also. Kathy doesn't particularly enjoy that trip, so we make it a dad - kids (In their late 20s and early 30s) trip. We usually end up sleeping four people in the coach. I get the good bed in the back, and the others get the dinette and jackknife sofa up front.
We love the access the coach gives us to the back country areas that we frequent, with almost all the comforts of home.

Oh, I forgot to mention the endless hours of entertainment I get from working on it in my driveway between trips. Mostly upgrades, but it gives me confidence when we are on the road. Taking care of potential issues at home sure beats working on it beside the road or getting a ride in a tow truck.

We use the GMC for everything imaginable!
Moving van and trailer hauler when moving from So Cal to Nor Cal. and when moving daughter's family from Long Beach to Nor Cal and later to Portland area.
Work truck/tool/ frequently returning to So Cal for property maintenance and repairs.
Over flow guest quarters when kids and grandkids visit us at Lake Almanor.
Living quarters when we visit daughters in Bay Area and Portland.
Currently parked in Daughter's driveway in San Leandro.
Multiple vacation trips to Texas, Baja California, and Campbell River B.C.
Many trips along Oregon and California coasts.
Frequent trips between Portland- Red Bluff, Ca. SF Bay Area, L.A. and San Diego.
Rallys at Treasure Island- Casa de Fruta and Coos Bay.
Hoping to hook up with DeWayne J. et al for the 2014 Route 66 rolling rally.
Logging over 120,000 miles in 12 years- my friends call the GMC my daily driver.
GMC Motorhome - the APV. ALL PURPOSE VEHICLE. Just Use It!

This thread got me thinking about what we've done with our GMC since we bought it only about 18 months ago.
Three trips to Mexico full of high school kids to build houses for poor families. Served as a bus and a program management office on each trip, and an emergency shelter in the middle of a wind storm that blew a bunch of the tents down.
An epic AZ-TX-IL-TN-NC-AZ road trip with hardly a glitch.
A Flagstaff, AZ campout with five grandkids and four adults (with a really large tent for overflow sleeping).
Some "heat escape" in the Flagstaff area.
A Christmas lights touring vehicle (wow, are our coaches great for that!).
Lots of plans for continued use going forward, and for the inevitable tinkering (fuel injection, towd braking system, and eventually a one-ton front end).
Not a moment's buyer's remorse... can't imagine owning a more "practical" RV (and yes, it's still a very relative term).

We use our quite a bit, many spring, summer & fall weekends to various places in Wisconsin & Michigan. One in awhile a road trip, last year to see some friends in Toronto for a long weekend. That along with an annual summer 2 week vacation to some place isolated. We primarily dry camp.....the more rustic the better as far as we're concerned.

Put me down as a full-timer.
For the last 18 months, the DreamLiner has been my home. I sold my house in Boise in May of '12, put furniture and such in storage, and set out in my GMC to see the west coast and then begin a serious search for my next position in the radio industry.
I imagined living in an RV would make it easier to relocate to my new job and move on with my life. Unfortunately, the new job has been slow in coming, but I still enjoy living in my "tiny house" on wheels. I'm looking forward to the day when a steady income will allow me to make some upgrades, but I don't plan to abandon her for a non-mobile habitat any time soon.

I have seen 3 different gmcers on the beach areas in the day time, two in malibu at the surf areas and one at the end
of the run ways of LAX airport on PCH, a matter of fact i have seen them all on pch, pacific coast highway. one lax two malibu
also i use to see one at zuma beach and in front of the malibu colony entrance. Are any of you on the net here, i would like to
get the info on the malibu boon docking areas etc. thank you mickey anaheim ca. 77 palm beach.
I saw the one that was wrecked and for sale here last year at zuma beach. I would like to know good places to stay over night
in the malibu, zuma beach area. If you live out there rent me a place to stay some times at your house please. I use to live there
and love the area and the people there. best regards.

i want to park out at malibu for a few days to surf and then come back to anaheim where i live next to disneyland.
looking for a good place to hide out there for a few days at a time for healthy surfing and beach biking. etc.
I know bob dylan and charlie sheen live out there i would like to stay at your places if possible and mow the grass.

This response is based on the assumption that you're a bachelor.
I wonder if you've ever thought; "who needs a house?" At the end of the day the GMC is big enough to live in so why bother with a
house?
When I was in the USAF I "lived" in a barracks room with two other guys. One single bunk and one double bunk and I'd say the room
was 10' x 12'.
I believe that a GMC is a bit small for a married couple as a full time residence.

i had 18 houses in carbondale ill. in 1970 after being married i lost 9 of them and then sold the others and went around the world.
Some times it is best to have something that the opposite sex does not want if they leave. mickey anaheim ca. 77 palm beach
If someone will stay with you in a gmc they will stay for a while. happiness comes in small packages sometimes.
I lived on a boat here in marina del rey for 5 years and met many persons that lot their homes in divorce. boats and rvs are safe
houses for gold diggers.

Rob,
Divorced, actually. I bought a house to live in with my beloved in 2003 for $135k. After the marriage took a dump in 2010, and we had put probably $30k into the house, the most I could get for it was$129k. So now I live in a $10k home that I own outright, and I can take it with me wherever I go.
