I'm finishing up the headliner job and, of course I had to redo the upper sidewall panels. The rubber trim strips that surround the windows were the last thing to reinstall. I put one up and noticed how dirty it was.
Here is an afternoon job to spruce up most any coach. Pull out those rubber trim strips, toss them in warm soapy water and give them a light scrubbing. It's amazing how much better they look.
Popping them back in isn't too tough, but it may be a 2 beer job by itself.
Then again I have all the overhead cabinets down right now.

Doggone it, I’m always so greedy for pictures I guess it’s just fair to demand them of me! I’ll upload some pix in the morning.

Well, here are some pix of me cleaning the interior trim. I’m trying to upload a video to YouTube showing the results of my headliner project (to date).

For want of another $100 worth of glue I’ve redone my headliner. The vinyl sagged and looked more sorrowful than an atm card at the gas pump.

This time I used the FRP pebble board and used measurements AS WELL AS the old ceiling as a template. My first brainstorm came after I had cut a panel upside down - Doh! I took a 1’ wide swath and trimmed it to the exact width needed with the “spring” fit. I used this to improve the templates of the old ceiling and this made a big difference.

A straight edge and some dead reckoning helped to produce more precise cuts. My first attempt was peppered with lots of “close enough.” It wasn’t.

I’m very happy with the look of this stuff and I know it’s durable; we parked our Tesla on top of it for 8 months!

I took only one photo:

So this is the headliner for now. I didn’t improve the insulation. I didn’t run any new wires. I just popped off - popped on.

I like it. I know some folks hate FRP, but as a commercial general contractor, I have ordered and installed thousands of sheets of this stuff. All the paneling under my windows is mulch. I am replacing it with FRP. The PO heavily tinted all the windows, (in Texas) and my wife is always complaining about how dark it is inside. I may replace the worn headliner as you have, so it looks like the inside of a truck stop restroom, as some purists have noted. Plus, FRP is impervious to water damage. Nice job!

I think the best thing I did with this installation is to assure that the panel width was correct and square. The FRP panels snap in place and once the metal strips are screwed in it seems to be very secure.

I don’t want todo this a third time!

I may do the side panels with this too.
