This 1974 23 foot GMC motor home is the rarest one built by GMC. Of the nearly 13,000 built there were only 168 23 footers built in 1974. These front wheel drive classic motorhomes have an almost cult following due to their excellent engineering and durable construction. These innovative motorhomes were state of the art at the time and were very expensive compared to the stick and staple motorhomes which populated the market at the time. They were built using an aluminum framework which supported an aluminum skin and roof above the beltline, Below the beltline they were constructed of fiberglass using the same advanced molding techniques of the Corvette. Early in their design the engineers were leaning toward offering these motorhomes under the Cadillac banner, however internal GM politics necessitated using the GMC nameplate even though they were truly up to Cadillac standards. This GMC is powered by its original 455 Olds Toronado engine (130,329 miles)and its heavy duty 425 Turbo Hydramatic transmission has been rebuilt. Being a 1974 it is also exempt from the nuisance of having to get a smog certificate every two years. I purchased this classic after it had languished unused for 18 years. This motorhome has never been involved in an accident and still has it's original paint that waxes up to a great shine there is also the 4000W Onan generator. I am the third owner and have nearly all the receipts showing the care lavished on this motorhome by its second owner. I aired up the old tires checked the water and oil installed a new battery and drove it home. Includes all the maintenance and parts books. I have started the restoration process and you’ll need to finish up the interior as well as replace the black water tank (cracked) and flush the fuel system (still has old gas in it). To date it has the following NEW items:

GMC Motorhome - $1,400.00
4 bag susp - Leigh Harrison - $1,140.00 installed
6 shocks – KYB - $227.65 installed
Carrier AC 13,500 BTU - $540.37 installed
Ceiling Unit with heater - $110.03 installed
7 Tires - Firestone - $1,064.67 installed
Trans & Reg DMV $218.00 -------
Refig Domestic 7.0 cuft - $1,080.00 installed for 110v will have to seal cabinet to use LP
Tire install - $84.00 -------
Batteries Sears $199.47 installed
Fuel Pump - $30.00
Ex Gaskets - $35.00
Digital TV Antenna - $130.00
Solid surface counter tops $500
TOTAL $6,759.19

As you can see I have over $6,700.00 invested and these motorhomes regularly pull in the $10,000 and up range when finished. I am willing to let this one go for $6,000 so I can start the restoration of our Bluebird Wanderlodge.
