Is the 1976 455 a Buick or Olds engine?
The resources in Ontario, and Canada, are far less than what is available in USA, and virtually no one has a GMC TZE listed in their database.  I am trying to source Dist Cap, Rotor and wires for my 76' Glenbrook and supposedly there is a difference in the parts for a Olds and Buick 455.

Try using 76 Tornado as your parts list for the engine. Be sure to get the correct ignition coil and pickup coil.
To keep polarity the same

Ignition coils and pickup coils should be considered a "matched set", that is, you need to look at the
color codes on each part and match the codes to each other, and to the vehicle/engine family the
distributor will be used in.  Failure to use the appropriate color codes may result in poor starting and
misfiring at low speed.  The brand names listed are for the ENGINES, not the CARS--a Chevy-designed
engine in a Buick car uses the Chevrolet color codes, not the Buick color codes.

For V-8 engines, there are three color codes for the pickup coils:
Yellow tyrap (early) or Yellow plastic connector (later) on the wires.  Used on Chevrolet;
Cadillac; and Olds engines in Toronado
Blue tyrap (early) or Black plastic connector (later) on the wires.  Used on Buick; and all Olds
engines except those in Toronados.  The lead wires are slightly longer than those used on the "yellow" pickup coil.
Clear or NO tyrap (early), Clear or NO plastic connector (later) on the wires  This is identical to
the Blue/Black color code, except the wires are even longer to fit a Pontiac distributor

There are two color codes for the in-cap ignition coils:
Red and Yellow wires  Used on vehicles that use the Yellow coded pickup coil. (CHEVY, Cadilac, Toronado)
Red and White wires  Used on vehicles that use the Blue/Black, or Clear pickup coils

There's also a Pontiac 455... and it's also different. The GMC has the Oldsmobile 455, '77 and 78 got a 403 Olds.
As mentioned, most engine parts are Toronado for cross-referencing, but not always.

You can get most everything in Canada, except some of the special parts, then source from somewhere like Applied GMC. The cost of getting parts across the border justifies shopping in Canada as much as possible for commonly found bits. You should be able to get those parts you mentioned at most any local auto parts store, they're old school, but common enough.

https://www.gmcmi.net/combogroup/distributor/?p=electrical&v=Distributor

www.gmcmi.net is a good resource for part numbers.

We should have a thread just on sourcing parts in Canada, some are easy, others, not so much.

What many of you seem to have missed is that Chris is in Ontario Canada. If he cannot make Jim Hupy's answer work, his best try would be Dick Paterson. Getting parts brought in from the US is expensive and then you may have to pay import duty on that. We go through this a lot getting things to Mary's family over there.

Specifically it’s an Olds. The cap and rotor for V8 HEI are the same Buick or Olds. Wires lengths are different as Buick dist is in front, Olds in rear unless a universal set. As you get deeper the pickups are different as mentioned, but that was not in your original question.

Eric,
The GMC TZE is NOT going to appear on any parts store computers. If you
have a 455 then I always use the 75 toronado as a base search. For those
of you that have a 403 I use the 77 toronado.

Your local auto parts store should be able to supply what you need. For
speciality items then you can check with the GMC suppliers and some have
low cost shipping to Canada.

IF you were a member of GMCMI and had the parts catalog in your hot hands
then you would be way far ahead. Just suggesting.

gmcmi.com
Good organization and has registered world wide.

Might check if you have a local as they can be a real help and you're
really not alone!! Don't know your location so I cannot point you in the
right direction for a local club.

AutoZone, Advance and Rock Auto have the GMC listed under 1973/1974 GMC Transmode. Be forewarned that what they _think_ fits our coaches is not necessarily accurate or appropriate, and there are differences between the earlier and later GMC model years. In other words it's kind of a crapshoot ordering through them.

If you value your time take up some of JimK's at Applied and give him a call. You'll get the right part the first time and an education - instructions, caveats, etc. He also tells good dirty jokes. 😉

I asked at my local Car Quest, they have a listing for the GMC Transmode
but not the MH. In central Va.
The Transmode listing showed up about 7~10 years ago in the listings I work, and at first (still with many) it was only listed for '73my.
As '73 is the model year with NO shipments of Transmode recorded, I always was amused by the listing.

Thank you to all for the responses and support.I am a GMCMI member and have the USB from Kim Weeks and also Thomas Lins.  I am still fresh to working on my coach and finding the various specifications throughout all the documentation is all unfamiliar with me.I will get there as I work on the coach and start putting some miles on it.Cheers!

Good organization and has registered world wide.

Might check if you have a local as they can be a real help and you're
really not alone!! Don't know your location so I cannot point you in the
right direction for a local club.
