Well, the GMCforum website starts the New Year off with a bang.
The database and message storage were pretty messed up and any attempt at running the maintenance utilities would fail and make a bigger mess. Restoring to a backup didn't help, because the maintenance utilities would fail again and the mess would start all over again. This is somewhat of a carry over from the problem that occurred in August and actually well before that.
After many hours of wrangling, I decided to cut my losses (and end the amount of time I was spending on it) and clear out all of the messages and start off fresh.
The good news is, there are no more topics with empty message bodies:)
There is an on-line archive of all of the messages back to August 2007 on the GMCnet Archive Google Group:
http://groups.google.com/group/gmcnet-archive
I do have all of the messages back to 2004 and hope to one day figure out how to get these loaded into the Google Group archive, I'm close, but am only able to load messages that have currently valid e-mail addresses (Google Groups appears to check that before allowing a post).
Happy New Year everyone

I have been having trouble with your web site postings coming to my email address for a long time. I received instructions from either you or another administrator on how to correct this problem, but it didn't work. I attempted this several times as well as having another person follow the instructions to see if I had overlooked something. The same result occured. Our solution at the time was to place a rule that deleted the incoming e-mails. This would take 5 to 10 minutes to do based on how long it had been since I last was in my e-mail. I have now gone to a new e-mail software and am now getting all the posting from your web site. If I havn't been in my e-mail for a week or two, which is sometimes the case, I can have upwards of 500 to 700 emails to delete. As you can imagine this is a little troublesome. Please help correct this problem. My e-mail address that is receiving these postings is snapcad@kc.rr.com.
If you need any other information on this, please let me know.
Thanks,
TG

You need to contact the administrator of the GMCnet email system not the administrator of the forum where you are right now.
With a couple of exceptions for "subscribed to" topics and "private messages" the forum does not send out posting emails to anyone. The GMCnet mail list server is the service that sends out emails.
Please go to http://gmcnet.org for information and support on the GMCnet mail list server.
It sounds like you need to set your subscription over there on the email list server to vacation status. See section 6 for more information.

George,
Bud is the type of guy that will give you the shirt off his back if you need it. I am sure he was pleased that you helped yourself and those other guys out. If you ever borrow anything from Bud, you don't want to wait until he asks you to return it. That is against his nature to call and tell you to bring it back. That's one reason so many people have borrowed stuff over the years from him and never brought it back. Unfortunately nice guys do finish last sometimes. So I was very glad to see it come back.
Next time you come to town, lunch with you and Bud is on me.
Hope your coach is running well!
Take Care, Phil
