When filling my tank, I listen for the sound of the last little bit needed and stop pumping just before the pump cuts itself off. Never overflowing. Underneath the coach just about a foot or two infront of the rear wheel opening there is a small amount of gas on the ground. It does not leak until the last minute as I hear the gas gurgling in the line. I can't see any leak. I used a flashlight and mirror to look underneath but couldn't see. Any suggestions?

From your description of where the gas leak is just
forward of the rear wheel I would look specifically at
the hose that connects the secondary tank to the fill tube.
Be sure you tank is full with possible;y some gas still
in the fill tube. Don't stop filling just because you see a drip.
Put some more in. mine leaks on this hose as long as
there is gas in the fill tube. Not bad just a drip about
every 5 seconds. I have tightened the clamps and it made
no difference. One of these days when I get over the lazies
I will replace the hose. Till then drip drip and hope no
one strikes a match.

Hey Tom;

I have the same problem. I always fill until I see gas dripping on
the drives side just to the inside and in front of the rear wheel. It
doesn't leak while I'm filling it, just as I start to top it off.
Didn't use to do it when I got the coach, but started in the last
couple of years. I was told there is something in that location that
has to do with the fuel system, but haven't gotten up there to check.
I'm going to check the driver's side rear bearings today, so might
shimmy up under there and check it out. Will let you know what I find.

Same problem here. No dripping, no small amount. There is a flow of about
one gallon. It's worse if the rear end is downhill from the front end.

The fix is to drop the tanks and replace the old hose. It needs to be done
so I can also put in some gasohol-tolerant hose.

I also can't put in more than about 28 gallons from what appears to be 1/4
tank. I've learned to stop at 25 and just stop for more gas in 200 miles. I
don't want to tempt how much my 1/4 tank is good for or if gas will make it
from the aux tank.

Tom,

The problem is the fill vent line. This is a 1/2" hose that connects the fill neck to both tanks. It is T'ed at the frame rail at the middle of the forward tank as two 3/8" back to each tank. It is what lets the air out of the tank when you are fueling.

You will have to take out the inner fender and the driver's side interior panel to replace the hose properly. => PITA-BTDT

Be careful, the T is plastic and there is no common replacement.

Mine was actually worn through be rubbing on something and when I tried to cut it at the damage and stuff in a splice, the hose shattered.

Driver's side, front of rear wheel well tells me to look at the liquid/vapor
separator which is located right there, at the top of the wheel well behind
a sheet metal shield. It has a hose from each tank into a tee, with the
other leg going into the separator; a separate hose comes out of the
separator and goes to the charcoal cannister under the passenger's
floorboard. The hoses in may have liquid in them, that coming out never
should, but the float & needle valve inside sometimes sticks and lets liquid
through. Any of those 5 connections, or the separator itself can leak, all
right where y'all describe.

While the vent lines are a good candidate for this issue, it also can be caused by a leak at the sender. The leaked fuel runs along the "channel" for the fuel and vent lines to the left front corner of the rear tank. (This would be a little forward from the wheel opening.) As you have to drop the tanks to replace the vent lines, be sure to check everything else out while you are there.

If it only happens when you are topping off the tanks, then it's
probably the seal around the sending unit. Those seals are rather
notorious, or at least they are for me--I've tried to get mine to seal
in two tank removals and still it leaks if I fill the tanks too full.
