WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT AT VINTAGE RV RALLY!

GMCMI will be conducting the popular Windshield Clinic at the Vintage RV Rally in Mineola, Texas on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. If you are attending the rally, stop by and watch them work. Also ask any questions you might have. These guys have done over 200 of these over the years and now is the opportunity to have your questions answered.

If you want your windshield(s) replaced at the rally, the windshields must be pre-ordered. The cut-off date for ordering is March 24! So order as soon as possible.

For additional information and/or ordering, contact Ken Burton at GMCwindshield@gmail.com
No extra windshields will be available. Everything MUST be ordered before March 24.

All communication and questions answered will be handled by me at the GMCwindshield@gmail.com email address. There are too many other ways to communicate about GMC stuff and I can not keep up with all of them.

This event will be handled exactly the same way as previous ones. All email communications will be acknowledged with in 2 days. If you do not receive an acknowledgement from that site, assume that your email or my response did not make it and please retry / send you request again.

Ken Burton.

For those of you that are going to participate in the windshield clinic, may I suggest the following.

1.) I'm pretty sure that the windshield guys will do this but should be mentioned anyway to make sure it happens. Before the new windshield is installed make sure that some kind of sealer is spread on the edges of the new windshield. Doing that will seal the edges so that moisture cannot get into the glass laminates and in time FOG the edges around the windshield. I did not know this when I had White City Glass in Menomonie replace my windshields back in 2007. Both windshields are now starting to fog.

2.) At the front edge of the dashboard on the inside where the windshield meets the dash, are a number of screws that hold the dash in place. After the crew removes the old windshields, ask for a little time to one at a time remove all of these screws, apply a little white lithium or any light grease and reinstall the screws tightening them snug only. Now, at some time in the future should you decide to remove the dash, considering the angle of the windshield relative to the screws, it will make removing the screws much easier. Even if you don't plan to remove the dash, the next owner might and will thank you endlessly for your forethought. When I needed to remove and replace my dash, (something I never anticipated doing) because of the angle of attack for the screwdriver, created by the windshield, I had a VERY difficult time getting those rusted screws out.

Just my experience with the windshield replace process.
