My cruise control died on me last year and I am getting tired of driving without it. The trouble is that new or rebuilt transducers seem to be rather hard to come by. Recently a fellow GMCer (Louis Hudgin) told me they were available on Ebay. I checked it out and found that they are not only available, but there is a guy who will rebuild your unit. My question is, has anyone had any experience with having this service done?
I have a Rostra cruise control system that was given to me by another GMCer who went the SOB route and was getting rid of his GMC stuff. The main problem is that I'm not sure it is complete (open box) and the system looks to be kind of complicated to install. If I can verify that all the parts are actually there, how much of a hassle is it to install the Rostra system?

If it might be any help, I did install a Dana Cruise in my coach and have scanned the entire manual that I have for it. This is the Analog unit and I do not know how different the Rostra units are, but I could put the manual that I have on the wire to you if you think it might help.

I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure the unit I have has instructions with it, so that's probably not necessary. I'm still leaning toward sending my old transducer in for a rebuild. I really had no problem with the factory cruise when it worked.
I can always do the Rostra if it gives up the ghost again at a later date.

Applied still lists a rebuilding service w $50 core charge. Best to call there to see in case web is not updated.
Or Hemmings should list some Olde Time services for speedo, gauges, clocks and cruise restorations.

Did you do some basic checks? 1. Remove the ground wire from the body of the coach and attach it to the engine block. Did you check the brake light switch? Both of the above will cause it not to engage. I have seen both of these failures several times on several coaches. I have also seen the engage switch on the turn signal lever fail.
