My Onan had only 375 hours on it and ran reliably with the OEM ignition system. I, however, had to change the capacitor often due to age and declining quality of replacement capacitors. That drove me to retrofit it with the solid state ignition system. I considered it to be an easy installation as an electrical, electronics and automotive/RV hobbyist (i.e., no qualifications by education...that was as a mechanical/petroleum engineer).

Upon completion of the installation (Oct. 2018), the genset started with the first bump of the starter motor. It has run flawlessly since...

I understand completely Fred. I have a low hours Onan that runs perfectly, but I’m still considering Gary’s kit and wanted to know how difficult the install was.
