Attention All Users of Electric Wiper Motors

As a result of a power steering system failure I recently experienced, I've
just created GMC Electric Wiper Instructions - Rev 4.18. The main feature
of that revision is the inclusion of the paragraph italicized below:

*This installation replaces the OEM hydraulic wiper motor with its
integrated power steering fluid filter. That filter should probably be
replaced with an in-line filter installed in the return line from the power
steering box to the pump reservoir. A large, metal-bodied filter is
recommended; clogging of that filter can result in high fluid pressure in
unintended locations and consequent failure of the power steering.*

While the absence of a filter has not resulted in any failures of which I'm
aware, it is good practice to include an adequate filter in any active
hydraulic system. Most vehicles seem to include one in their power
steering systems these days.

Your choice -- it will be a slightly messy chore, but may protect your
hydraulic system from premature wear.
