I got caught in another speed trap.  Does anyone know of a device that
can warm me if I go over a preset speed. My aunt had an Oldsmobile back
in the 60's that had a buzzer on her speedometer. She could set the
speed she wanted. I have a lazier/ radar detector, but by the time it
goes off they already got me.

Gary,
I can appreciate your experiance of getting a ticket.
Back in those days when they had the speed monitors in the cars, people did
not like it as it irritated them, so the factory quit supplying them.
Maybe JC Whitney might have one.

How about a Pro shift light tach. Set the big red light to come on at rpm of the speed you want?

Gary,
Seems like that should be a phone app, I know there are GPS units that do
that.

Just about every modern GPS unit has an option to alert you if going x mph over the speed limit. I typically set mine in the 8 mph over range.

Gary,

A quick Google search shows several possibilities based on GPS. Maybe a GPS speedometer with built-in alarms? There are even apps for all smart phones that will do this for you. The Waze app has this feature too. You can see it here:

Obd plug in devices like those sold by zubie can do that and more. A simple
speedometer app will help as well, but sucks down phone battery.

Miss Garmin, Murphy's live in companion, has a annoying voice that says
"You are exceeding the speed limit". The voice you love to hate.
I once had her bitch at me aboard a Washington State Ferry, when we
were crossing from Kingston to Edmonds. We were in the coach on the auto
deck. Engine off, brakes set. But the ferry was moving faster than the
speed limit she was programmed with. It is a feature that you can turn off,
but the easiest is to just turn down the volume control.

My Tom-Tom GPS units have the feature where it sounds off whenever you go over the speed limit. You can choose from among several warning sounds. The first time I used it, I had set a 18 wheeler air horn in it, and the first time it went off while I was on an interstate, it scared the crap out of me Shocked while I started looking all around to see if my little Suzuki (and me) was about to be crushed. It is loud.

The GPS program on my smartphone "CoPilot" by ALK has a feature that allows you to set how many MPH over the limit it will warn you at. Mine is set to 5, now all I have to do is actually listen to it.

I have the best anti-speed trap devioce when I go to dog shows in The Mousenmobile. I often travel with a friend who also works the shows - we leave our wives home with the menageries. Anyhow, I got busted headed for Alexandria LA going South off I20. And, as the cop is looking at my license a quiet voice to my right says "Officer, would this make a difference?" and the cop took the offered card "Yes sir, now there's probably another officer down the road where the speed changes again. Yall please drive carefully and have a nice day." And hands the card back and off we go.
The only drawback to this method is, you got to spend 30 years as a State Trooper, which my bud has done in New Yark. Professional Courtesy.

THX guys.  Lots of great idea. Most I have not thought of. I will look
into several of these options.  I like to drive a little over the speed
limit. Maybe not in the GMC. LOL
