For the last couple of years, Blackstone had report that there was coolant in my engine's lube oil.
I had some much Bar's Leak in there it made a hill where it ran out on the shop floor.
That did not work.
Tonight, I lifted the intake. Where the leak was is evident (to anybody that has been and engine analysis guy for decades).
I will, when time permits, put this together as an album.
For those that care, the problem was caused by a lack of coating applied at the front left port to the intake manifold.

Matt, no pix needed for me. I have that pictured in my minds eye. In the
last several years, I have been using Permatex "The right stuff" sealant.
Really works well FOR ME.
I used to use Yamabond #4, but it got very hard to find for a while
and expensive. Only available at Yamaha MC shops then, but now on the
Internet and a bit cheaper.
Two formulations on the right stuff, 1 minute set time, and slower
set. O2 SAFE.

Matt, I'll trade you. 6 months ago I put a new intake manifold gasket in Laurie's Jimmy. It is not a find job. Everything has to come off of that engine to get to it. I'd do two GMCs instead of one of those 4.3 GM ones. Now the thing is leaking again. Oil spots all over under it on the floor and down 3/4 quart of oil. Probably that silicone on the end walls.
Anyway I would gladly swap hobs with your. The only thing bad on yours is the weight of that manifold.
Too cold now to do it again and also I fell on the ice a week ago and am barely walking. 50 to 100 feet is it. So for a while no standing around working under a hood for hours.

Yes, I walked out of a grocery store and on an stretch of side walk that was perfectly clean. Well it was covered with a thin coat of glaze ice that had not been salted. I fell on the sidewalk / curb. Three people came to help me and one of them also fell. I could not stand up and had to crawl to the asphalt parking lot to get enough traction to stand up again. Right after I got home it started snowing and we got around 2 feet over the next few days. I was hurting to bad to go out and plow so I was was snowbound for 5 days. Went outside for the first time today and got on the John Deere with difficulty. 500 feet of driveway is now clean with 40+ degrees tomorrow is should start to melt off. Current temp is 36 degrees.

I finally stopped by to see the doctor at one of his remote clinics where I knew he would be on a Thursday afternoon. It actually was right across the street from where I fell. Usually he is not busy there.
We spent about 20 minutes looking for a city water leak that we could hear but not find behind the walls of the office. Shutting off the water at the meter did not stop the leak. We decided to just call the water company and let them find it since the water was not going through his meter.
Anyhow. He looked my my leg and said a bone on the side of my lower leg is broken. He told me to stop by his main office tomorrow sometime before noon and tell his x-ray technician to shoot a couple of x-rays to confirm his diagnosis. After that he said there is no treatment for it and that it will heal on it's own in about 6 weeks. Then he showed me his leg where he broke the same bone one time in the same place. He is always doing that. One time I went in for a serious back strain. He said go get a back brace at Walgreens that looks like "this" and he showed me the one he was wearing. He did the same thing on a broken foot about 15 years ago and a small bump on the back of my neck.
If I shot myself in the foot he would probably show me a hole in his foot too. It is kind of reassuring that the doc has already experienced what I'm going through and survived his own treatments.
He also says that he has seen a lot of Flu patients this season. Most of them are at the Urgent Care treatment section of a local hospital where he is a fractional owner and a part time attending Physician.
He is the same age as I am and ought to retire or at least slow down, but he won't because he likes what he is doing.
Enough medical stuff. This thread is about coolant leaks. At least I included the fresh water leak at the office to keep it somewhat on subject.
