Kelly. GM put Enron on your GMC. I've saved the paint job on 4 GMC's. Wasn't that hard, and for under $300. And got the vinyl strip off without harming the paint. Our latest 78 sat next to a corn field for 20 years in Iowa. It was a mess. Now you can walk up, and see yourself in the reflection. We spent our money on making it safe, dependable, and in up grades we wanted. Call me on my cell if interested in how to do it. 319-521-4891 Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale

Mine was repainted at some point, there are spots where the paint completely chipped off (down to metal) and it's got spots where the new paint went over pits/pinholes.

Not sure I can fix it. I have done a polish and it looked better but I can't fix these things.

Mine is shedding the clear coat over the repaint which was done ten years or so ago. I wonder, can I scuff it a bit at the missing spots and rattle can the clear back on?

Johnny, you could, but it's unlikely to match the sheen at this point. You could let it cure and then buff it all back to the same sheen.

If you wanted to rattle can it use this stuff:
https://www.amazon.com/Spray-High-Gloss-Clearcoat-Aerosol/dp/B0043B7UQY

It's a true 2k clear that's gas and solvent resistant unlike all other rattle cans.
You push the button on the bottom which breaks a glass ball inside containing catalyst, so you get real paint from a rattle can. It sprays quite nicely as well.

Never hurts to try it on the roof. 800-1000 grit. and some very light passes with the clear.

I'm gonna try it on the hoods. They're the worst looking, and easy to mask off. I'm lazy.

Don't forget technical schools. They often look for vehicles to paint and
will do it sometime s for the cost of materials. Sammy
