This particular GMC has been posted on criagslist randomly for well over a year.
the scam, is that they claim to be in military and you should use a legit ebay deal that allows you to pay for it, and when they ship the coach to you, you can deny it and get your money back if it is not legit.
lots of people have emailed, and get the same scam story.

Done. I see this stuff on my local CL often. Ususally cars or farm equipment. The ones I see are easy to spot by the cheap price and the request for direct reply through e-mail... usually "gmail".

It's the same GMC, just with various "individual" pics and very different and varying descriptive text. They don't mention a location - so the assumption is that it's located in the area where the ad is posted. So that's somewhere between Oregon and Florida…
All those things are very obvious indicators that it's a scam.

The ads are still active. I just got through sending this to Craigslist on
their contact form. Appreciate if some or all of you would do the same.

This person claims the item is located in a Utah Air Force Base and that it will
be shipped air freight to any number of Air Force bases throughout the world for
delivery. He wants payment via Ebay. He lists this scam all over the country.
It has been going on for at least a year now.
Please help to eradicate this unscrupulous user and / or at least his posts.
If and when these are removed, please let me know so I can keep a vigilant watch
to see if they pop up again. I will then immediately report them as well.

Here is an actual conversation between an interested party and the scammer:
BUYER: Is this GMC still for sale? If so a phone number?
SCAMMER: You will have to contact my brother directly for more details about the
GMC you are looking at. He is the owner of the Eleganza RV, he can provide you
more details about his car then me. His email address is

BUYER: Do you have any more photos - especially of the interior.
Scammer: I will start by giving you more details about my 1976 26ft GMC Eleganza
II. It comes with a 455. 7.5L V8 Gas engine and 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 425
transmission. The motor home has been extremely well maintained with a full
service history and has never been involved in any accidents. It only has 34,600
miles on it and the title is clear. It has a 6kw Onan generator with around 500
hours on it. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the engine starts
and runs great.
I bought it when I was serving at Hill Air Force Base, Utah but I was promoted
and transferred to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska for a 2 year period,
therefore I need a fast sale and a reliable buyer. It is very difficult for me
to sell the motor home either in Utah or Alaska, so I asked my brother to help
me and he advertises it in a few areas for a larger exposure.

have the purplish trim line???? Are these photos of two different GMCs??
No one can tell much of anything about the coach without many more interior
photos. I can only tell that it has a side bath - from the window locations -
and not much of anything else.
SCAMMER: The title and all the paperwork will come along with the motor home.
The motor home is already at our Department of Logistics at Hill Air Force Base,
Utah ready to go. The shipping will be free for you because I will transport it
using the internal transport system we have here at the Department of Logistics!
The DoL will deliver the motor home to the nearest Air Force Base from your area
and from there I will use a tow-truck to have it delivered to your door. The
whole shipping process will take 6-10 days. I chose this method because, like I
said, I was transferred to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska and I'm not able to
handle this deal in person.
The financial part will be managed by eBay; you will have a 5 day inspection
period before committing to buy the motor home. In this way, both you and I are
100% covered during the steps of this transaction. If the RV's is not as I
described it, you can ask eBay a full refund without being charged. I would
really like to get at least $6,800 so if you are interested in making this
purchase in a timely manner email me your full name, shipping address, and phone
number so I can inform eBay that I have a buyer! I will forward your details to
them and then you will receive the invoice and also you will be able to talk
with them directly and ask all you want to know. Please let me know if you're
still interested in the motor home so we can work out the details.

It's a shame that Craigs doesn't do anything about these leeches. This
particular scam has been ongoing since at least last spring. They must be
making money at it as it keeps popping up all over the country from time to
