At a local garage sale I picked up a Xantrex Freedom HF 1000.
I was told I can use it in my RV.
I paid $30 and it has never been used.

That is a nice ”smart” inverter/charger. They sell new for about $330.

If installed in a motorhome it will charge the batteries at 20 amps with automatic control to prevent overcharging.
It also has a built in Inverter that will convert the battery 12 volts DC to 1000 watts of 120 volt AC.

If you have the old “buzz box” charger in your
GMC I would recommend that you install it. 20 amps charge should normally be enough for you.

OK. Thanks for the information.
Now I need how to wire it.
I'll look at Xantrex and see if they have drawings.

Then keep your old buzz box as a great 12 volt source for your workbench.

You should be able to download the owner's manual on their web site. If you cannot find it, based on model name, look for "Freedom 10" manual. Xantrex bought the company making the Freedom 10 Charger/Inverter for their technology. $30 is a steal.
If you cannot find a copy to download, P.M. me and I can lend you my copy, or just scan the connection diagram for you.
It is an excellent device.

Be sure to check the output voltage of the buzz box. I had replaced one
and when i checked to see what the out put was it was over 25 volts.
