Bought Rattle Trap. 50 sq ft for $109. Covered the steps, and floor over engine. The extra covered the top of the generator, and some of the front side. Excellent adhesion to the floor. Thick aluminum foil. Simple to cut, and fit. The last carpet we install in the burned GMC was a cheap remnant. As my thought was that the carpet in our GMC wouldn't have much traffic. And that was true. But it mated terribly. I have a remnant of that carpet. It's going on top of the generator cover over the Rattle Trap. As that's where my 110V service cord will slide in on. Just more sound suppression is my thought.. The truth is the cost doesn't really matter on carpet. As it's just not that big of an area that right in your face all the time on the road. Regretted buying that carpete from the day I bought it. A hard surface flooring will be used for the main floor area.Bob Dunahugh78 Royale

Bob -

Thank you very much for your detailed postings of rebuilding the Mouse House... I'm particularly interested in this one as I'm in the midst of evaluating various "sound deadening" materials.

From the myriad of options - what made you choose Fat Mat RattleTrap ??

Did you give any consideration to any of the roofing / flashing materials that many folks on the interwebs claim as equivalent yet less expensive ??

Did you explore Dynamat ?? Is it more expensive simply because of branding ??

Thanks again !!

Stave. I picked that material because I know 3 friends that installed it on different types of vehicles. And were very pleased with it.
I also installed it on the generator enclosure inside the coach. Next I'm putting the carpet over the inclosure to add just one more layer for sound, and heat. Plus the carpet will make a good surface for the shoe power cord to slide on.Bob Dunahugh78 Royale Mouse House
