To any and all owners past and present:

Do you have knowledge of a rear wheel bearing failure?
If you do, would please pass that information to me.
Any information will be appreciated, but I would really like (if available):
The number of miles on the coach and/or bearings.
How long since last serviced - miles or year.
And, of course, whatever coach specifics you can provide.

Espen's posting of a picture of rear outer bearing in the process of failing has given me hope that we can identify what needs to happen to prevent this.
If I have to change out that outer bearing every 25K, I'm good with that.

I am pretty sure that my bearings were OE, and the coach is a light 23 with 150K on it and the bearings had been repacked 18K back.
That is only one data point. Maybe if I have more, I can actually make a conclusion.

Matt

Matt, I had a rear wheel bearing go out.
It was soon after I bought the coach.
It ran great so I ASSUMEd that the PO had taken good care of the running gear, so I focused my attention on the interior to repair pipes, blah, blah, blah.

Our first trip was to Florida. I had called JimB to have them put it on the lift and check it out.
I arrived in Orlando and as I got off of I4 I heard a little squeak...squeak as I braked on the ramp.

I make it to Jim's and had made a Sully landing... the wheel was about to come off.

Dead wheel bearing.

New bearings all around, 1 new spindle and hub, plus brakes and other things..

Jim had me all good by my scheduled departure time of Friday. All was now good and my wallet lighter (better MPG - haha).

JimB et al did a great job!!

Coach had 76k miles, unknown PO maintenance. I had not done the wheel bearings.(bad boy!)

The coach now has 103k miles 4 years since acquisition.

What I can add to mine Matt is that the coach has around 78K and it was not the original bearings.

And I will do what I can to get hold of the one on the picture for you

Espen,

I will appreciate the effort even if it is a miss. This is seeming to be a bigger issue than I first thought.
Thank You

Matt
