I’m installing new body/frame insulators, of the Jim Bounds variety, and am trying to line everything up with the drawing -

It seems that the one under the bogey is doubled up. Does anyone know if that’s correct?

I’m using this drawing -

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/frame-pads/p14837.html

I don’t want to puck it up (if you have seen the JimB insulators, you’ll know)

Dolph,

Your photo is mis labeled it notes "Pad Location from Maintenance Manual X725." It appears to be from Maintenance Manual X-7625 or
X-7725. Since this is a revised page (see MM X-7525 / Section 2 - Frame / Page 2-5 / Figure 4 - Body Mountings it stands to reason
that it is correct.

Also if you check page 23-76 of Parts Book 78Z you'll find an exploded view of the Body Mounting. It is the first version with long
strips not individual pads. There is no view of the later version.

However, the very first part listed is Part Number 2005279 Insulator - frame to floor (3" x 6") (opt.). I don't know if they are the
individual pads or something else.

At any rate the MM and PB deal with the OEM pads, who knows if they are the same thickness as JimB's sliced hockey pucks or not.

Regards,
Rob M.

Don't know anything about what Bounds sells but my 77 Elle had double thickness pads at the bogie crossmember. I was redoing mine using cut up horse mats from Tractor Supply and just put two of the 1/2 inch thick pads I put everywhere else.

That photo has been on the GMCPhotos site for about 10 years and you are the first to notice the mistyping of the source.

Now that we know who the Lunar Nut Case is, I'm left wondering who the arrogant ones are? :)

I'm Sure there are a few that might count me, but hey, I as I said when I came aboard, I may not know everything about GMCs, but engines have been my life for a very long time. I am still trying to pay back what I learned from good people along the way.
