We do a lot of boon-dock camping. But carrying two 6 gallon jugs of
water from the pump to the GMC and then holding each one up high to
empty it into the coaches water tank gets tiring. So, I decided to
design and build a WATER WAGON.

I started by building a wood box that holds an 18 gallon tank. I
purchased an old radio flyer wagon and took the chassis off of it and
mounted it onto the bottom of the wood box. I trashed the old wagon
wheels and installed some hand golf cart wheels from carts I had
purchased at Goodwill for $5 each. Under the wagon I installed a high
capacity Sur-Flo 12v DC Pump with a hose going from the inlet side of
the pump to the tank and a 6' hose on the outlet side. On the GMC's
small side access door I put in a 12v DC outlet.

So I go to the campground water pump, fill the tank, pull it back to
the GMC, stick the hose in the coach water tank fill door, plug in the
pump, turn it on and I have plenty of water with minimal work.

Ray,

A great idea! Joshing now, as many good ideas get joshing, How does the wagon serve as your toad? Do you have to put brake lights and trailer brakes on it?

Actually, I imagine it fits in the door, and as soon as you get to where you are going, you offload it. Or you have a pickup as a toad, a very handy concept. I wonder if it would fit in the back of a Tracker. If it did, no need for wheels. If we did a bladder concept in the trunk of almost any toad, we could use it for water hauling with a pump. All good ideas for self sufficiency.

Ray,

What do you do with the water after it winds up in the black or grey water tank?

Per instructions from the park rangers, I use the macerator to pump it
into a 5 gallon pail and dump it down the pit toilet. Another haul
and carry job. I may need two wagons, one for potable water and one
for black......and never get them mixed up ! LOL

Nice job, Ray.

That was my thought, too. Big IV: Put 2 collapsible water tanks on the toad's roof, fill them there. Drive over to the coach and connect them with a length of tubing that slips over the dispenser nozzle and gravity feed the coach.

Ray,

Nice job on the fresh water wagon!

We also dry camp often in the UP. Dumping black water has always been what keeps us from staying longer where there is no dump station.

You are saying the ranger says it is OK to dump macerated stuff in their pit toilets? I wonder if they would mind if someone drove up to a pit toilet and used the macerator hose, rather than a bucket to dump. That would certainly be easier than the bucket brigade method. I carry enough macerator hose to go 30' from the coach.

This is the only option I had since my "toad" is a Harley in the
trailer. Hard to put water bags on the Harley.

Got it!

Bottom line: it's easier to haul water to and poop from the GMC than move it to and from the water fill / dump site.

Makes sense to me.

Actually, when we dry camp, we mostly use the pit toilets. Fresh
water is for cooking, washing hands and an occasional shower.

Hey, I'm a GMC'er, that means everything we do doesn't have to make
total sense ! LOL We all just love working on stuff.

Truer words were never spoken:
" I'm a GMC'er, that means everything we do doesn't have to make
total sense"

However, I'd be tempted to change from 'total' to 'any' sense..

I would think running a hose to pit toilet would be a no-no. Unfortunately, in most GMC's, a black tank has too much water in it to make dumping in a pit toilet viable. If everyone did that, the pit would need daily pumping out.

If you had a grey tank. Then it could be an option.

Evidently you're unfamiliar with National Forest/ National Park, BLM, etc. campgrounds. Most times they only have one or two water hydrants in the middle of the campground somewhere. Hard to access with a hose. On the other hand, IF they have a dump station, you COULD drive your coach there to empty the black tank and fill the water tank, but Ray's method is generally less trouble.
