After 'fixing' my dash wires to get rid of the clear electrical wire, I have these three wires to remember where they were connected...
Grey wire left middle, big yellow wire (radio?), orange right middle. They have some black scratching on the pic..
One fuel tank guage works, batt select switch doesnt work (could be DEAD rear batterys...

big red wire looping on right side goeas to the cig lighter,
orange wire and lighter connection on fuse panel are not the same connection.

Ugly, but very typical. All the wire colors you mentioned are P.O. added to the OEM wiring harness. Only possible solution would be to trace where they are connected to the OEM wiring, and attempt to figure out the intention of the P.O.
Hopefully, these are wires added for additional accessories, and not attempts to "repair" OEM equipment.
Typically, these may represent a change over of the radio, or an additional gauge.
Grey wire, if OEM, is the dimming of the radio panel lights, tied to the dash dimmer circuit.
The famous Henderson large scale wiring harness diagram is your friend. Get one and keep it close.

Orange is used for the battery boost switch.

Didnt touch Switch, this was behind and below all the wiring nest.. I think the yellow one was orig for Radio (according to wiring diagram) but couldnt tell where the single orange one goes to. Switch plug has all connected ok, so it wouldnt go to the switch directly...
