I'm going to install an ev6010 in my GMC. Wondering about the mounting plate. My gen compartment is stripped of an Onan related items. You should have seen the ugly air cooled single cylinder Chinese made 6 Kw genset that P.O. had installed, withour a exhaust muffler, just straight pipe.
Anyhow, the question is have a metal mounting plate made, per Honda specs, or use 3/4 inch plywood like many have done.
Opinions please. But, only if you have actually installed one or had it done for you.

I know you don't want a reply from one who hasn't installed this, but... Wood provides a bit of sound and vibration resistance that steel does not. Just a thought...

Tom,

I have a Honda that I will install if the Onan dies and would use the steel mounting plate 'cause that's what the Honda engineers
spec'd.

Tom,

I talked to JimB and he said to call him at the COOP and he could talk you through how he did mine 10 years ago.
