Need to move our 76 GMC Edgemonte from Houston to our new residence in College Station, TX(about 100 miles). Existing tires really bad. Who still makes 16.5 tires for light truck or our GMC duty? Saw a few on ebay, off brand, for $144 ea. Will need 4 to move it.

Firestone Transforce is the only name brand I'm aware of right now.

Thanks,

Firestone Transforce HT is the only LOAD RANGE E tire in current production in 8.75R16.5 size.

Load range D tires are CLOSE to their max load limit on THE FRONT AXLE of a GMC at or above max GVW. If you have two LRE tires that you can put on the front (and a LRE spare), LRD tires will work on the rears. They will work on the front if you don't mind being close to max weight capacity.

You will find more selection in LRD tires of that size.

Do a google search of

8.75R16.5 "load range d" OR lrd
