I talked to this guy and have some more information to post: He doesn't have digital pictures but apparently it has not been "out of the barn" for a few years. Lots of work done, but everything has been sitting.

Rear twins, center kitchen (aft of the entrance door) dinette, sofa, all new upholstery when Golby did the restoration. He tells me this is a custom interior.

Old tires, 16.5", with OEM wheels and hubcaps. One roof AC new when restored, new carpet, new microwave convection, and much more. Started and warmed up regularly, but not on the road for several years.

Rear twins probably won't work for me but I'll try to get up and have a look sooner rather than later. I do have a digital camera, but that is about it.

He wants $15,000 obo.

I have not seen it - but it sounds like a nice one. Bud is a nice guy and can tell you a lot about the coach.

Right! When I asked him about the length of the beds he said that if I was over 6' tall, I'd be in trouble. This one intrigues me because it has the sofa behind the driver's seat along with the rear twins. Maybe I could sleep on the sofa.

Curiosity is not going to kill this cat. I'm going to go see it if I can get Ken to finish up all the little trivial stuff he's working on Smile

Stick,

I'll bet you'd be very comfortable in the '78 Royale like Sharon and Jerry Work have. The rear lounge turns into a bed bigger than king size.

Stick,
When I was the GMC Mountaineers Coachless rally, there was a couple looking
at selling there extended coach with rear twin beds. They added 2 feet to
the back for extra leg room for the beds.

We are at the stage of life where we both get up to use the bathroom in the night. Any landlocked bed will make it tough to crawl over the other. I'll take the front sofa and she can sleep in the rear.

Actually, I did not sell my Royale specifically because of the bed length. I slept quite well and, at 6'5" I found that putting my feet at the rear of the coach gave me that extra space in the curve of the coach. If I had kept the coach, I would have taken part of the passenger side closet out and lengthened the bed.

I sold my coach because I lost my job and panicked. I now know that I was destined for a life of leisure and retirement and, other than teaching a few law classes, I am "wide open." Nursing a bad back since Thanksgiving makes it hard to do much physical work, but I am an accomplished moaner.

Over the course of a year with the Royale, we discovered a desire for more of a "living room" and less kitchen counter. Storage space is relatively unimportant for us. The more storage room we have, the crap more we'll take. The rear bed Royale has a whole lot of kitchen cabinet that, as you know, extends to the rear of the driver seat. No where to watch TV except in bed.

I have no use for a dinette. We eat in our laps in the den at home, so I see a sofa on one wall, 2 barrel chairs on the other and from there back it really doesn't matter.

A "dry" bath is almost useless for me. We try to park close to the bath house. There are 2 things I try not to take in the bathroom of my coach and one of those is a shower!

I probably shouldn't have sold the Royale, but now I am ready to do something else. My wife wants a newer SOB that needs less work. I told her that doesn't exist, but that s probably something we should look into, given my mechanical abilities.

What I really want is Ken Henderson's 23'. At the present rate, he may GIVE it to me. Smile

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to look at this coach.

Bruce - Two feet would probably do it. Never thought I'd go for a stretch, but feel free to have them contact me. Probably easier, though, to saw 2 holes in the rear of the coach and cover my feet with garbage bags.

Forget the garbage bags! Hang feet in mid-air
and get free foot baths!

Stick,

The coach in those pictures sure doesn't look like a stretch to me!

Hey, Rob. My post was in response to a post from Bruce Hart about a stretch somewhere out west. Not the coach in Eatonton, Georgia that is the subject of this thread.

Stick,

Yup, I've confused this coach with the one Bruce Hart mentioned earlier in
the thread.

I looked at these pictures of the Golby coach in Eatonton and I don't think
it's a stretch.

http://macon.craigslist.org/rvs/2982352631.html

That jives with what you noted about when you called the seller.

Regards,
Rob M.
