Hey Nelson, if you fade by Wekiwa Springs campsite 6, you'll see me and the BWD.  After the dog show anyway.   Be pleased to pour you a couple fingers of some good sauce.  Or either come down to the Convention Center this weekend from 10 to 4, I'll be helping Meet The Breeds attendees meet Kuvaszok.

In the Orlando newspaper today there is a full page ad for an antenna
for $30 that is called "Clear Cast".

Any thoughts on this one? Snake oil?

Before Digital there were 3 television bands
VHF Low
VHF High
UHF

After the implementation:
VHF Low - abandoned.
VHF High - still used with reduced number of channels
UHF - now were most channels reside.

So you can see if you had an antenna that received all three bands before then it will still receive the two bands that are is use for Digital today.

I assume Canada did the same thing but I have never looked it up to find out for sure.

Ken B.

Yes, Canada has abandoned the VHF low band, but not the high one. For example, Lethbridge Alberta still uses the original channel 7 and 13 for their new digital signal. Now, here in the US, some channels still call themselves "Channel 3" for example, even though they are now using UHF frequencies. That is true for Chanel 3 in Phoenix as an example (I winter here in Phoenix). And some former high band VHF channels actually switched to UHF, but kept their old high band channel designation. So, that generates a further confusion in the real market place.

Bottom line, as Ken says, you need an antenna which not only will pick up the UHF frequencies but the former 7-13 VHF ones.

Pardon my message here

Someone wrote to me at my email and asked about the FRACTAL antenna.

UNFORTUNATELY, my mail needs to be approved and when I try to get approval the site won't let me in.

If you are still out there I suggest you cut your spam protection or contact me through a PM

Thanks for the interest.
