Hundreds I think are running the atomic.

most atomic users are silent, as it seems they don't have problems with the system. Alex F ran one, Miguel down in South california will only install MSD Atomic systems. I can't seem to find much bad things about the MSD atomic or people having problems.

When I did my research, I personally felt that the

#1 used system was the GM based Howell, or some similar or upgraded from howell (howell upgraded to ebl). People have been installing and running those systems for decades.

#2 MSD atomic - this was the first "all in one" type that I seen people installing on GMC's. started out expensive, but when fi-tech came on the market- they slashed price.

#3 fi-tech came on and lots of people installed that system due to price point. People still installing them, and others curse the product. (talk to Bob - owner of the beast- he feels fitech costed him two engines?)

#4 logs of holly snipers getting installed now

I choosed the GM rochester with EBL system. I felt it had a good history and lots of support within the gmc community. and for the DIY- it was cheaper. (not cheaper if you by the kit)

The PO put an Atomic system on my coach. He mentioned 'muguel still has the carb' indicating he wasn't entirely happy with it. After going through the setup, it starts and runs well. I haven't had it on the highway to check, but it was happy on the highway when I got it... it just wanted to hunt at idle, sometimes enough to quit. Setting the idle stops seems to of cured it. I don't have the timing control module with it, stock HEI for sparks. As I understand it, it';s kosher in CA for smog purposes, which is probably why it was used. Miguel does a lot of them.

My MSD Atomic FI has been running flawlessly since installing 3 years ago. It doesn’t improve gas mpg, but it does improve performance.
If I had the money, the Howell would be the ultimate. But I don’t have any complaints with the MSD.

MSD units like the other Throttle Body units does not have the FULL
Ignition control.
WE sell them All but I get complaints about fuel consumption .
This goes to Computer control of Ignition.
EFI is a loosely used term.
We have terrific results with the Howell based unit with the EBL ECM that
we program and it is ALL plug and play.
You can go to our site and look .

I wonder, how does the Howell setup with all the bells and whistles compare to the MSD with the timing control unit?

Problem with going with Howell or GM with EBL is cost here in Canada.....by the time i get the EBL, and the used TBI plus harness etc (even from the mans mall) and if its not corroded beyond life is im at the cost, possibly more than a good used EFI system with all the add ons...so is it really that much better?

Someone said i can get stuff from GM instead of waiting if something goes wrong....thats a valid point and its a good one but how many EFI kits have left people stranded?

The one thing holding me back is i hate having adaptors under a carb....to many vacumm leak potentials when you start stacking between gaskets like that but im willing to give it a shot at a reasonable canadian price as the exchange etc just kills any US possibilities unless it super cheap (which doesnt exist in the efi world).
