Bob:

Whatever, Bob. Whatever.

Want to guarantee the opposite, try telling me what not to do.

I’m going to make it a great independence day. Hope you do too.

Depending how you reply, and whether you reply on the mailing list or the Forum, a personal mail may well be initiated. I don't know how Ken Henderson's replies are headed, but if/when he replies to one of my posts, I get a personal email and the reply on the Forum. If it's a problem for you, just click the DELETE button.

I don’t think I’ve ever worked so hard to give away a carburetor core.

Bob, it’s not junk. It’s a rebuildable core. Some people need a rebuildable core.

If it were junk, it would be in the scrap pile.

Jim, Dick Paterson’s work is impeccable, and you do a great job of distributing them here. I have tremendous respect for you both.

Finally, if anyone wants it, PM me.

Happy Independence Day.

Just a friendly observation from a new GMC owner (but one not new to online forums, especially a good one related to vintage motorhomes); this is not the friendliest forum.

I have to disagree. I've been on this forum for going on 21 years now. Sure its has had its ups and downs. But over all, it's been friendly.

Happy INDEPENDENCE DAY to all of you non conformists out there. NEVER
FORGET PEARL HARBOR AND NINE ELEVEN. I am doing baby back pork ribs on the
smoker today, with corn on the cob, potato salad, watermelon, and maybe an
adult beverage. If not that, then Lemonade will work.

I reread the Declaration of Independence today, an amazing document. If you get a chance read the reason for declaring independence . The take the time to read John F Kennedy’s Inaugural Address.

For our Canadian brethren, I’d like a link to Canada’s decision.

Canada's decision on what?

Canada has been self-governed for 152 years and three days. We've been considered an "equal" of Great Britain since 1931 and in 1982 we took ownership of our own constitution. We're still part of the Commonwealth - but that's really just a symbolic link for historical reasons...

That was the reason the Canadians built that big canal system to connect the eastern Lake Ontario area of Canada to the northwest part of Ontario to preclude interference from those cantankerous yanks in the south across Lake Ontario!

I do have to put a signature in.
I currently live in Roswell, Georgia north of Atlanta by 15 miles or so.

I’ll get to the signature this weekend.

Todd, that's painting with a pretty broad brush. Rolling Eyes

There are lapses in decorum now and again, but they're fairly rare and best to ignore.

It's also important to acknowledge that, even with it "not being the friendliest", it is helpful and caring to the utmost.

You mentioned you're a new owner. When did you get your coach and have you made it to any GMC rallies? I see you're in Buffalo - are you planning on going to the Spencerport rally? I hope so - I'll save you a seat in the friendly section! Smile

I won't be making the Spencerport rally, I appreciate the invite but we are looking forward to attending a bluegrass festival that weekend. Plus I wasn't sure if non-members were allowed. I sold our 31' 1990 Holiday Rambler Aluma-lite XL and bought the GMC about 3 months ago.

Yes it's a wide brush. But compared to other automotive / rv forums I've participated in there is a fairly high rate of 'saltiness' on this forum. I only mean this as an observation.

Could be a good opportunity for the moderators of this forum to think about the question of 'who is going to be owning these GMCs in 20 years?" What's the average age of a GMC motorhome owner anyway?

These things aren't getting easier to fix and maintain with time, and they will only get even harder and more expensive to fix, even if all the current knowledge is passed on. If folks are driven away from this forum, it'll be even harder if not impossible. That will mean a lot of abandoned and scrapped GMCs

Btw, wrench turning is not a current hobby of 99% of teens today, I have 3 of them and they are not tearing apart engines, welding stuff, and repairing ag equipment like I did as a kid. It's not like that anymore. Plus they took metal shop out of school. My kid was excited to run a drill press in technology class (what used to be metal shop), that was about the extent of hands-on for them.

Unless people are ok with the GMC's heading to the scrap yard, I personally think more should be done to welcome in the new (younger) owners b/c, best case, they will be the future owners. Worse case, without new owners able to maintain their motorhomes, the GMCs will end up in the scrap yard.

This may take some work from the moderators , encouraging the positive actors and discouraging negative.

Something to think about anyway.
